“Still magic”
Reviewed 31 December 2011

If you are looking for a mental week or two with clubs, boozing, and general debauchery, then this is not for you! Look away right now! However, if you are after a lovely secluded location with good views of the sea and mountains, a great, clean resort with professional service and usual Turkish sunshine, this is for you!

Rooms are spacious, clean, modern and with large outside areas/balconies. Most have a view of the sea / the bay / the harbour. Yes, the resort is on the side of a hill...there are steps...lots of them if you have a room high up in the resort, but it's all part of the charm. I loved the lay out to be honest and a brisk walk did me the world of good after a huge dinner!

The grounds are absolutely beautiful with lots of hidden extras. The beach is small but why go to the beach when you can have (as we did everyday) your own lounge area on a pontoon over the warm Turkish seas? There are plenty of sun loungers, whether you go to the beach, the pontoon, the sea front area or one of the 2 lovely and large pools.

The food is buffet style; there is a lot of it, some of it great, some of it not to my taste, but always varied and particularly good on Turkish nights. You MUST visit the rooftop restaurant which is an amazing setting as the sun goes down over Marmaris town and the food is lovely, traditional Turkish fayre. A really lovely, speical evening. The rest of Marmaris is like a low market Blackpool (I love Blackpool by the way) and I would avoid it and its dirty beach at all costs.

The watersports area at the resort is fine...a little expensive given the location (they can charge what they want if there is nowhere else to go can't they!) but fun for a couple hours during the week. There isn't a great deal to do on resort (which is actually a good thing in a way...lovely and relaxing), but the boat to Marmaris is cheap and a great escape. The harbour area in Marmaris is beautiful and has some great eateries (Jan de Vit serves fab Turkish food). The Panorama bar high up in the old town has excellent views and large measures of vodka :)))

The check out tour is advisable and a real varied day out (river cruise, see some turtles, visit the tombs, have a mud bath, go to the beach, lunch and dinner included and a few hours in a hotel near the airport for some last minute sleep before the return flight).

All in all, a lovely week, great weather and I got engaged whilst here! Enjoy!

Room Tip: Remember it's a large, spread out resort...if you want less walking, ask for a room near to rece...

A stunning location with good views & excellent food but there is vertualy no activity in this resort, certainly not what most active adults aged between 35 & 55 would expect on a break away from the kids, nither day or night nor 4 or 5 star!
Its definietly not a 5 Star Magic Life any more and yet it retains the valuable sports resources from Magic Life for now but its poory mainatined and wasting away, un wanted and under valued by Thompson & un used by disappointed guests.
A resort that attracts a lot of retired couples, some who struggle with the hilly terrain, steps and rickety pathways.
In a nutshell, a resort thats possibly lost its way, targetted at couples between 35-55 and attracting anything but...
Still a stunning location and for a relaxing, quiet week away can be good value.
But sorry not a main holiday destination for us!

Room Tip: No choice for room location at all in 2011, but limited development of some suites for 2012 planned?

This place is in a stunning location on a hillside overlooking the marina and the whole of Marmaris bay;great for sitting on the balcony and watching glorious sunsets(we like sunsets so it was perfect). The accomadation was excellent ,low rise, spacious and very clean ,though it could be a long trek to get there as it is set on a hill.Private beach and two great pools meant there was always somewhere to sit though we were there low seasoni.e.october.We never had to queue for a drink whichus unusualin all inclusive and the staff were very attentive.Food was patchy salads , bread and fruit were excellent and always fresh but i did get a little tired of meatballs as a main course.Th Ala carte was good and in a beautiful setting.Good value and a quiet getaway far away from the madness of other parts of Marmaris though easily reached by water taxi or service bus.

Stayed October 2011. This hotel was excellent. Food brilliant with a huge variety at each meal. staff patient, courteous and extremely helpful, hotel and room spotless and we will defintely consider a re-visit. Only problem was the hotel complex is on the side of a hill, with many steps to negotiate. However the staff are very helpful if asked to re-alocate to a lower room and of course there is the hotel golf buggies that will ferry you around if telephoned. All in all agreat place to holiday

Room Tip: IF you have mobility difficulties request a lower room

Stayed after cruise from 10 to 17 October. Rooms are ok arranged in blocks of 4 but sited on slopes. The downstairs rooms are underground at the back so the wardrobe smelled like a compost heap and couldn't store our clothes in there. A very good place to chill but very little in the way of evening entertainment - we mostly ended up watching tv in the room. This hotel is a fair way out of marmaris so you have to travel in if you want nightlife. Food however was brilliant, spa is excellent, everything is clean and the location is stunning.
