“A memorable holiday in a wonderful location”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Our first overseas trip for a couple of years but so worth the wait. The villa was fantastic, clean, well equipped, plenty big enough for the 8 of us. Our favourite bit was the outside space, a lovely pool and outdoor eating/seating area and the views were amazing.
Gary, the owner, was a great host, he even met us at the villa when we arrived (well after midnight!). We were able to contact him throughout the week and he arranged a boat trip for us, which was a brilliant day out.
Fatma came to maintain the pool and do a light clean every day and really helped to make our stay enjoyable and relaxing.
One of the other highlights of the week was the village itself, Selimiye is a wonderful little place, from the lovely, friendly locals to the many restaurants and shops. We ate at the Aurora Restaurant which was delightful, lovely food seated next to the waterfront next to all the yachts and boats that had moored up fro the night. It was our first trip to Turkey but I imagine this could be described as the 'real' Turkey.
We did hire an 8 seat minibus and although we could drive it up the steep hill to the villa, turning around was difficult and so we tended to leave it at the bottom and walk up. We didn't find it a problem at all but my mother and farther in law did find it difficult and avoided doing this in the heat of the day. A normal sized car wouldn't be a problem though.
We would definitely recommend staying at Villa Gelincik and would love to return again sometime in the future
A rainy Sunday in the UK at time of writing - yearning to be back at Villa Gelincik!!

Liked best: Relaxing by the pool and the outdoor seating area with the wonderful views
Liked least: The steep hill to the villa (although we had a minibus so a bit big to park at the top - no problem with a normal sized car)

Hi Mark, many many thanks for your warm and very honest review of Villa Gelincik. I know you were looking forward to this holiday for a long time, so we really enjoyed hosting you all and striving to make it a family holiday to remember. Selimiye is a lovely village, and many guests tell us they enjoy the nice blend of tradtional fishing village and the modern marina area. Plenty of restaurants to choose from at all price levels. Best of luck to your two boys for their music venture - I look forward to watching their progress!! Great to meet you all Mark and I especially enjoyed the Facebook banter :)...speaking of which, I'm going to post a photo today which is relevant to your final sentence! Look forward to seeing you all again. Cheers, Gary

“Dragonflies around the pool”
Reviewed 27 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Just back from an amazing week in Villa Gelincik, Selimye and what a fantastic place to stay. The villa was extremely comfortable with great views from the pool and bedrooms. It is well appointed with everything you could need. The outside space is well designed, with a lovely shaded sofa area and outdoor eating area. It is all very relaxing.

As other reviewers have commented, you really do need a car. Although it is less than a 20 minute walk down to the village, it's quite a hike back up. However, a couple of restaurants did offer to take us back.

Gary, the owner, was more than helpful, answering all our questions & organised a boat trip for us, which is well worth doing.

Selimy itself is a very authentic Turkish resort, where you don't hear much English.

I would recommend this villa for comfortablem relaxing holiday. Thanks Gary.

Oh and the dragonflies were around the pool every day enjoying it as well!

Hi MG,
Thank you for your very kind review...I read the title and didn't quite know what to expect!! :) Great to hear you enjoyed the villa and the village - as you say Selimiye is still very much the authentic Turkish village. That boat trip has been a firm favourite with a lot of guests this year already - a great day out on a summer holiday! Thanks again and hope to see you all back this way sometime in the future. regards, Gary

“Great little village and fabulous home, with all mod cons.”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 for a stay in September 2013

We were a group of eight friends staying for the week at the end of a Gullet trip-we loved the little village of Selimiye and environs.
The owner was wonderful to deal with over the months leading up to our stay providing us with loads of local information. Nothing was a problem and he also organised a day trip for our group to Rhodos.
House is well set up and we all enjoyed lounging around the pool, cooking meals and using it as a base for exploring the environs.

One suggestion if staying in Selimiye, you definitely need your own transport! The majority of properties are set up on the hillside overlooking the harbour, there are no taxis and you need to be fit.
Access, via a very step driveway to Villa Gelinik was the only downside to our stay, as we had no transport, especially managing heavy suitcases in and out, but once you get up to it, it has stunning views and is a wonderful place for a holiday.

Hello GK, lovely to hear from you after all this time! I'm really glad that you all enjoyed your time at Villa Gelincik and in Selimiye Village. The road up to the villa is still a work in progress..village politics is a wonderful thing :)) Hope to see you back over this side of the world another time. Best regards

“Fabulous ONCE AGAIN”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This review is long overdue. We stayed in Villa Gelincik at the beginning of summer for a week. From the first point of contact Gary was responsive and helped every way he could. We were unfamiliar with this part of Turkey. It was an absolute delight. The bozburun peninsula is a beautiful part of southern Turkey. Traditional, friendly local people. Beautiful scenery, quiet and the makings of a fantastic holiday in a really relaxed environment. The little village of Selimiya was a complete delight. The people in the village were so friendly. The local woman baking fresh Turkish bread down became our routine shopping trip along with the fish shop and the vegetable stand by the beach. The villa itself was simple, quiet and with everything you need to enjoy a lovely time away from home. We cooked in, we enjoy really relaxing on holiday and the bbq was our preferred way to enjoy our evenings. The pool was clean, the views were gorgeous. The running (if you're into it) is challenging but really great for hills......a run to Bozburun village and back is around 11kms and due to those hills works up a good appetite for that Turkish bread at breakfast. All in all, highly recommended. Thank you Gary for a wonderful holiday.

“if you are looking for a quite and private villa to spend your summer, this is the correct address”

Me and my wife had heard so many recommendations about Selimiye village (close to Marmaris, southwest of Turkey) but did not have time to visit. This year we have decided to visit this village and started to search for a suitable villa.

We have somehow found Villa Gelincik from the internet and loved it by looking at the pictures. I was somehow hesitated before arriving since the pictures could be exaggerated. But after I saw the villa I understood that my hesitation was unnecessary. It was the villa that we were just looking for! Clean, quite, private and in touch with nature. What a perfect combination. We have spent 8 lovely days at this villa without any problems/complaints.

I would like to thank again Gary (owner of this property) for everything especially for his professionalism and his politeness.
