“Good enough to return to”
Reviewed 14 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

A remarkable transformation has been undertaken to turn an old stone dwelling into a luxury house for two. It's plenty large enough for 2 people and roomier than the photos depict. It's been kitted out to a very high standard - and everything works. We enjoyed having breakfast on one of the 2 balconies which are on the same level as the lounge/kitchen. The top terrace is just a great place to be - plenty of comfortable seating/lounging and good size umbrellas to keep the sun in check. I agree with a comment in an earlier review about the slope down to the house - it's a tad tricky but we didn't have any problem with parking right outside the house. Kalkan itself is a very hilly resort but the location of the Stone House offers an easy walk to many bars and restaurants.

“Superb property, stunning view.”

We decided on this property after visiting Kalkan twice over 4 years but staying in hotel apartment style accomodation. It cost more but was certainly worth every penny.

There is far more space in both the living room area, the bedroom and the bathroom than you would imagine or expect from the photos. Everything works, there is a separate toilet with handbasin from the shower room and you have two balconies with seating plus the stunning roof top terrace with loungers and comfy chairs! When we stayed there were hardly any neighbours in the other property and it was very quiet.

Why doesn't it get 5 stars? The property is at the bottom (or top, depending on your approach) of a very steep hill. Walking up from the town beach is fine, but if you have a car - actually parking outside the property was a subject of some "discussion" with the English owner of an adjacent apartment. That was a shame because compromise arrangements could easily have been made and it resulted in us having to park at the top of the hill and lug stuff up and down. The owner has been informed about this and I expect that issue will be rectified and clear agreed arrangements will be available for future guests.

Please don't be put off by that niggle - this really is a superb place and you will be genuinely impressed by the quality of the house itself and that view!!
