“A lovely hotel but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Reviewed 3 May 2012

Just returned from a week atLimak Lara. The weather was superb - hot and sunny with a top temp of 36 on our last day. The hotel is large, very spacious and incredibly clean - the staff are constantly polishing floors and cleaning the toilet and pool areas. Rooms are spacious clean and have lovely bathrooms but the air con was definitely not working properly - resulting in rather warm rooms at night. So what are the pros and cons? The pros: 20 minute transfer from airport (a bonus after a 2 hour delay and the shockingly tight seating arrangements on the plane - shame on you Thomsons - DVT just waiting to happen) The staff are very friendly and seem shocked when you say please and thankyou (not what they are used to from other guests) The pools are so clean and clear - the best I have ever seen A massive pool area with lots of interesting areas and little quiet spots. You can eat all day (and some do) if you wish. Particular favourite for lunch was the snack bar at the Tandoorie. The a la carte restaurants are good - even with a 9e cover charge. Italian was best. Entertainment staff work hard to keep everyone entertained - thank you Sacha (how do you remember everyones name?). Breakfast good - Late breakfast (after 10) was a bit quieter and offered a good option. The cons. We arrived late at night - reception gave little or no welcome or hotel information. The ultra all inclusive surcharge - 3e per day for a few extras (including International Brands that the brochure lists as included) The main buffet restaurant has a poor lay out - starters, main courses and cooked to order food spread over many areas As a result you do a lot of walking about. But the big problem is not the hotel and certainly not the staff - it is other guests: Our first few days were great - quiet although full - lovely families with young children - bliss. Then - it happened - we were invaded by large family groups with teenage kids who lacked any manners or etiquette and parents who thought it acceptable for their kids to ride scooters in the dining rooms (including one of the a la cartes) and to run in the buffet causing more than one collision with other guests and staff. We were told that this was the start of German and Dutch school holidays (had we known we would not have booked). So all in all - a good holiday mainly because of the weather. Week was enough due to the bad mannered young people and their unconcerned parents. Would we go back ?- Turkey yes butLimak Lara no.

Very simply here are the pros and cons:

Pros

Able to eat and drink pretty much anytime
Massive pools
Large rooms
Very clean
A la carte restaurants really good: Italian was outstanding!

Cons
Hidden charges like upgrading to get imported booze
Air con in standard rooms ineffective really, when we went it was mid 20s outside so was bare able.
Staff grumpy as they have no tips
Main restaurant repetitive
No resort surrounding the hotel so a bit isolated
Masses of Germans and Dutch with hordes of children
Evening entertainment non existent, the shows were targeted to children and in three languages.
Breakfast was limited for the british palette.... Cake, cheese, veal sausages, pancakes, bread.

Room Tip: £120 room upgrade to junior suite well worth it.

Sorry for delay ! Stayed here 1st Nov 2011, With Thomas Cook All Inclusive, we were a bit concerned as it said in the brochure that the outdoor facilities would be closed for the winter season, well, everything was open and it was between 27c and 30 c all week. Please bear in mind the review is based on OUR experiance, we paid £503pp on an internet late deal direct with TC.

First Impressions: Reception were friendly, hotel from outside didn't look anything special, but inside was amazing, very spacious set over a number of floors.

Rooms: Spacious and clean, fridge topped up everyday with soft drinks and beer. Room cleaned well every day.

Food and Drink: I don't think i have stayed in a hotel where the food and choice has been better, paid extra on 4 nights for A la Cartes, needn't have bothered buffet was amazing. The outdoor buffet by the sea was fantastic, lots of choice grilled meats and fish etc and a salad bar. Drinks were branded, but you do have to ask for them by brand ie, Johnnie Walker and Coke, if not you get the local equivalent.

Beach: whilst not the best beach, it was acceptable, the beach bar was fab with a great selection of snacks and drinks coffees etc. Sunbathing on the pier was superb.

Pool: The pool complex was amazing, Bars everywhere lots of beds, however, Pool was FREEZING, only went in once in 7 days, i think i was the only guy to go in lol.

Entertainment: The hotel has approx 7 bars and a nightclub, didn't get bored, went to various bars every evening prior and post dinner. Visited the Spa most days, very enjoyable, massages were great value.

People: This was my first time in Turkey, and i must say that the friendliness of the staff and locals impressed me, after a couple of days, nearly every bar staff knew our drinks, and on some occasions they were waiting for us when we arrived (how is that possible)

Overall: Its not often i would return to the same hotel as its a big world out there, however i would have no hesitation to return here, we had a fantastic week and didn't want to leave. We had a day in Antalya (Old Town) which has a nice little port which is not to be missed. Fantastic VFM. You will not be disappointed here.

We have just returned from a week at the Limak Lara and what a wonderful, relaxing holiday we had. The hotel is not much to look at from outside but once inside it is amazing. Very oriental, and minimalist in style. The room we had was excellent, with good views of the pools and sea. The food was very good with plenty of choices. We did go in the Turkish a la'carte and the food in there was really good as well. There was a charge of 9 euros for the 3 other a la'cartes which was reasonable but we didn't bother. There were 2 more restaurants opening for the summer. At lunch times there was plenty of choice, either on the beach, near the pool or in the main restaurant.

The staff were very helpful and service was good, The facilites at the hotel are excellent and everywhere was spotlessly clean! I would certainly recommend it.

Reviewed 27 April 2012

Just returned from a 9 night break, relaxed and nice and brown. We booked with Thomas Cook. big mistake, but that's another story. The Antalya airport experience for us was very quick, and pleasant, after reading horrors stories on trip advisor, was expecting long ques. No queues at all for us. Transfer coach easy to find, and transfer time good. About 20 minutes or so.Check in was fairly painless, except finding out all inclusive at the Limak Lara is not really what it says on the tin. They have what they call ultra inclusive. This allows you to have branded drinks, but only if you specify your brand, or they give you local brew. You can have bottled beer with ultra, but your never told this when you pay your extra Monies. In our opinion, the details that are given to you when checking in is very poor. Our room was on level two we previously emailed the hotel and requested for sun on our balcony in the afternoon, also if possible a view over the pool or sea we received all three. Our room was clean and tidy and a good size. The room contained two beds, One Queen size bed, one large single, pool towels, a small mini bar, containing fizzy drinks, water, two cans of beer, and a couple of fruit juices, replaced every day. Also a free safe, hairdryer, flat screen telly, with only about three English channels, mainly news except, Eurosport. If you are like us, all inclusive or not, we enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, when we get up. There are NO TEA OR COFFEE making facilities in the room. So take your own.The bathroom was clean and tidy, where you will find a dressing gown and slippers for your use.Along with some shampoo soap, and other little odds and ends.
A non slip mat in shower may not go amiss, a little ugly maybe, but a good idea, especially with the younger and older ones.

The dinning room large and functional.Caters for the majority, which is NOT the British, If you are one that can only eats pie n chips etc, i suggest you go to Blackpool. I read reports that some guest struggled to find things to eat?? did they use the same hotel as us? The menu includes lots of fish, veal, lamb, chicken, all the salad stuff you can eat and more.Repetitious! maybe after a few days, but if you insist putting every item on your plate every meal time, then it will be quicker for you. The hotel does not use PORK products,So no bacon, ham etc etc. The meat that looks like Ham is in fact Veal.As i said lots of salads, all washed in filtered water, so no tummy upsets here, There is also a fresh fruit, counter, and a couple of rows of dessert options. You can eat in inside or outside, if you eat outside beware of the birds eating your breakfast if you have forgotten anything, Leave the table empty for less than a minute and the sparrows are at your plate helping themselves.Watch out for bird pooh on seats! Could ramble on about restaurants but could be here ages.To be honest would just be nit picking

Pool area very very clean and tidy, lots of sun loungers,(no chairs for older people) lots of shade. A couple of drinks bars, to get your tea coffee, juices, alcohol etc and a couple of snack bars. To be fair to the hotel April is still out of season, so maybe a little different in main season. The tandoori restaurant, was not open in the evening, but used as a snack bar during the day. Mainly burgers, but a choice of different types, along with pizza, salad.
Beach bar, provides Kebabs, toasted sandwiches, pizza, ice cream.fruit. Great place to relax, and watch the world go by.

Entertainment, the entertainment team worked long hours, and at times made me belly laugh.During the day they organized, children's clubs, also entertainment for the adults, darts, volley ball etc.
In the evening, the entertainment had a lot to be desired. There is not really anywhere else to go other than the hotel. There is a children's disco, for about 30 minutes in the mail hall, which they seem to enjoy very much. This is then followed by showtime. It last for about 45 minutes.showtime consists of the entertainments team putting on a show. They do it very well, and we found there efforts entertaining, and funny. After the show you are asked to vacate the hall, and go to one of the other bars bars. There is a after ten disco, not sure if what time it goes onto its either one or two in the morning, sorry those days are gone for us :( .In the Panorama bar. They have a local, musician, playing a guitar, or a organ and singing. They try there best, but really they are not particuly good. You will have probably heard most of there songs after three visits or so.This finishes at 11.30 So its a late night snack, a drink or go back to your room.
While we were at the resort it was Turkeys National children's day, The hotel put on a firework display. to celebrate this, In our opinion it was excellent. One of the entertainment staff they call Boo Boo, Is Soooo much like Mr bean, its unbelievable. his expressions alone make you laugh.

We found the staff on the whole, very friendly and smiley, a couple of surly one, but that's life. We found Engin Erik in the main restaurant a really nice guy, along with Hanifi in the Italian. and Deniz the barman, great characters

Negatives are very few, as a non smoker we could not get away from the aroma of cigarettes, even in our room. As there were smoking areas, just below our balcony, and of course people smoking on there balconies. Which they they have every right to do, but it would be nice, to eat at a snack bar ,or sit around the pool, without having to endure cigarette smoke 24/7. There is one no smoking area, at the outside part of the main restaurant, but they have dedicated smoking tables, a few feet away?
Reception staff well !! make your own minds up,but people skills training is required, for most of them.
All in all, we were treated very well, even spoilt ,we also had great weather, and met some nice friendly staff. Would we return? maybe. For us the hotel would need a more comprehensive evening entertainments package. other than than a few minor complaints, a good time was had by all.

Room Tip: Ask for pool or sea view, plus the higher the better the view
