Just finishing up my two weeks in Milas , as many people have said the hotel is fantastic clean neat and well looked after .
We spent most of the time on the beach so used the beach bar for lunch . The food was fantastic if not a bit repetitive but I find this is the way in all inclusive .
Most of the staff are friendly and very keen to serve you .
The animation team was very poor and the entertainment very disappointing .
A few English but majority of the hotel was German .
The charge to change your towels is something that I haven’t come across to often . If you are a large family this can be quite costly if you want clean beach towels every day .
I cannot comment on the TV channels as I am holiday and never even switched it on
A couple of helpful points .
The sea is very odd , the part of the sea which belongs to the hotel is very deep very quickly so watch the kids . If you go to the other side of the ropes and walk away from our hotel you can stand for a lot longer .
Also there is definitely no pier at Melas , a bit disappointing as both hotels either side have them . You do feel like you have just been plonked in the middle . ( Melas build a pier )
When we spoke to the rep she basically told us that there was nothing outside the hotel apart from a few shops and bars 10 mins away . The shops are quite dismal and there is no bar ! If your like us and like to get out of the hotel occasionally you can get a bus from across the road , wherever you go on it it will cost 7.50 lira return each .If you go 10 minutes up the road towards Antalya you will come to lots of shops and bazaars and quite a few restaurants and a football bar !!!
If you want to go further you can stay on the bus and go to old Antalya town which is bursting with shops restaurants boat trips from the harbour ( which is beautiful) and seeping with history . This is well worth a visit . You can also get a taxi there for about 10 euros .
We also wanted a water park and was told that the nearest one was in Antalya but we actually found one on the outskirts of Belek which is about 20 mins away in a taxi . It is a joined with the Land of Legends hotel but has a water park attached which you can go for the day . We never managed to go as we found out about it to late .
A really enjoyable holiday and I would definitely recommend Melas however I usually stay in the Side area of Turkey and have found Lara beach not as fantastic as people say , although it does depend on what sort of holiday you prefer .

It takes a lot to get a 5* review from me but from the moment that we arrived to the moment we left the staff at this hotel could not have been any more accommodating. With regards to the reviews about none of the staff speaking much English, I think they must have stayed in a different hotel.

When we arrived in our room, I noticed that the bath was so high my Mum wouldn't be able to climb in to shower, but a quick call to reception and someone was at the door in less than 5 minutes with a step stool and making sure she would be comfortable using it.

I'm quite fussy when it comes to food so was pleasantly surprised to find such a wide range of choice at each meal time and the desserts were simply amazing!

During our stay we did two day trips but there was also plenty to do around the hotel, the garden area was really peaceful - great for an afternoon nap in the sun ;-) The entertainment team always seemed to have something going on during the day and the shows in the evening were really well put together.

We had a fabulous week and are already planning a group return visit next year as a surprise 80th birthday celebration for my Mum.

Thank you for making us feel so welcome x

I'm having to write this review after seeing some of the reviews on here people marking the hotel down as it only has 3 English channels on tv for Petes sake your on holiday why do u want to be in your room watching tv. Another one marking it down as the wifi kept dropping and they couldn't do their work omg your in a foreign country. The person who complained that there weren't many veggie options did you ask the chef to make you something as they would have done nothing is too much trouble. Seriously makes me so mad the drivel that people complain about I have been to this hotel 5 times now and I love it and as for someone saying if your German etc you will be treated better what a crock the staff are wonderful with all nationalities and I enjoy that there are different people there in fact made some wonderful friends from other countries so much so that when I'm back next month for my birthday 2 diff families are coming to see me now I think that's wonderful and so is Melas. So in short of you want a smaller hotel that's super friendly and will cater to your every need then welcome to the Melas if you want massive and impersonal then book one of the big hotels

Personal honest review-
Recently returned from Melas Lara. The hotel itself is beautiful and situated at the far end of Lara beach strip. Don’t be put off when you see all the other hotels that are much bigger in size than Melas as everything you need is there.
It was a very clean hotel with beautiful gardens and you would often see the resident cats (of which there were many) dozing in the shade- they did not come inside the hotel. The rooms were nice and the beds comfy, jacuzzi baths and lovely, powerful showers were great. We were not disturbed by any noise at night.
There was always something to do with the friendly entertainment team if you fancy joining in, no problems if you want to just relax.
We enjoyed a lovely massage in the spa and the slush puppies and ice cream at the pool bar were a welcome relief in the hot sun.
The staff worked tirelessly and most were very helpful, however, we personally found that quite a lot of the staff spoke limited English as their second language appeared to be primarily German, (as were the majority of the other guests). However, with perseverance, smiles and hand signs we mostly succeeded.
There is a free safe in the rooms and we found the free WiFi inside and around the pool to be generally very good. A beach towel is provided at the start of your holiday but you are then charged €1 should you wish to change it.
The main reason for only giving 4* instead of 5* is the lack of main vegetarian meal options in the restaurant. Yes the salads are lovely and varied and chips n pasta with tomato sauce was available at every meal, however, i became a bit fed up with this being my primary options when I had paid the same money as meat eaters (of which main dishes were plenty). I was also assured on two separate occasions that a dish was vegetarian only to quickly realise this was certainly not the case!
Just a tip- don’t buy your lilos etc from the hotel shop as you will find them much cheaper in one of the shops on the Lara beach strip and the shop owners are much friendlier!
Again, just our personal experience- Lara beach appears to be very popular with German holiday makers as opposed to Bodrum, Gumbet and Marmaris which we have personally found to be more English orientated.
Smoking is allowed on your balcony and in communal outside areas. 200 English cigarettes were about £22!
Observations- the shop owners prefer euros but were accepting of lira. Make sure you barter and stick to your guns on what price you are willing to pay; 9/10 you will get it at your price (as long as you are reasonable in your offer!),
Take extra care when crossing the roads and don’t for a minute think the cars will automatically stop at traffic lights or zebra crossings as they don’t and sadly we witnessed someone being run over.
The dolmus (bus) runs regularly and you can buy a travel card from either the hotel shop or on the strip and we also found the yellow taxis to be reasonable and always available.
Whatever you do, don’t forget to pack the mosquito spray!
I fully appreciate that each holidaymaker’s experience is very different and the above is just mine; if you have any questions just ask and I will try and answer.
I hope you have a great holiday wherever you choose to go.

Wish there was a 6* button. This was a luxurious hotel that we loved from the moment we arrived. Cannot fault anything. The food was top class. The staff super efficient and friendly. The animation team work their socks off and are really friendly without being in your face. The room was simply stunning as was all of the hotel. Excellent wifi connection and beautiful gardens. It was a perfect week. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing break with high class facilities.
