Food was good, and a lot of it. It should be cleaner but its Tunisian standard. Staff was pretty lazy.. but location is great, just across the fantastic beach. Rooms were big with balcony. One of the biggest hotels there.

Sadly post riots, the seaside town of Hammamet was like a scene from 28 Days Later. Many shops, restaurants, hotels and bars have gone out of business and closed. Trees, gardens and fountains (and sewers!) are no longer maintained, leaving the place looking pretty sorry. No tourists really except for a few disparate groups. The few remaining traders, selling knock off handbags, lighters etc are pushier than normal after a clearly difficult time.

The El Mouradi was dated and tired, with broken signs, leaking roofs and 1980's brown carpets in the rooms. The hallways occasionally smelt of urine, but this is probably from the blocked drains.

We went all-inclusive, which was a mistake, as the food was repetitive and bland, and we saw no policing of the buffet whatsoever, so much of the time people simply ate for free. Staff, knowing that you were unlikely to be carrying cash, but still expectant of a tip, were often disinterested. We found it a constant battle to actually get service from staff, or get value from the all inclusive. Some room service items were included, some not, and they refused to issue you a menu for the room. A beer would come in a tiny cup, unless you bought one (then you would get a pint glass). The free milkshake was powder, milk and an ice cube.

If you have been to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), I personally feel that it offers better weather, better value for money, more buzz, more interest, and a richer, deeper history within reach of the excursions than Hammamet. Perhaps a couple of years ago it had a charm, but now sadly lost. Egypt is simply better all round for this type of holiday.

Me and my boyfriend hust got back from a week in hammamet yasmine, where we stayed at El Mouradi Hammamet. This hotel is ok, definitly not 5 stars as we know it, but maybe 3. The communal areas were nice, there is a shisha cafè, a main bar, a pizza and pasta restaurant, a show/evening activity/family orientaded bar, where smoking is not allowed, there is a 'themed restaurant' with a la cart meals, every night a different cousine. The main bufet restaurant has the general bufet food and a pasta station at main meals time and a omelete and pankake station at breakfast. there was always plenty of food, but not always to our taste, so we eat mostly pasta and pizzas and the odd a la cart meals. The worst thing we found with this hotel is that the waiters, cleaners, pool attendants, most staff in genral, would expect you to tip them everytime you would 'move'. I have never seen anything quite like it. The rooms were big and spacious, but people are allowed to smoke in the rooms, so when we first got to the room it was very clean, but smelled of cigarrete smoke, this was ok after keeping the window open for a couple of days. The location is good, just by the sea, near a marina, not far from the new shopping area, bars and restaurantes quite close by. We attemped to go out of the hotel a few times, but there were so many people hassling you to go in their shops, they would lie to you saying that they worked in your hotel, some would grab your hand, some would even stand in your way and would not let you pass. It was so bad that we decided to not leave the hotel. So if your looking for walks on the beach, a bit of 'exploring the surrounds' or going anywere else without being hassled then consider any other country, but if you are only interested in going out in excursions and staying at the hotel, then is fine. But keep in mind that you will need a bag full of coins if you want quick and good service from the staff.

We visited on the 17th April 2011 it was a cheap last minute deal so I do guess you get what you pay for. The hotel was nice and clean but as it was out of season themain was not in use. The all inclusive food was terrible, greasy and very unappetizing, for the first time ever both my husband and I had lost weight after a holiday (one evening meal being beetrrot and rice as it was the only thing that was edible) That said we did speak to a couple who came in season and they said the food was good.
