The Promthep cape is a nice place to relax and watch the sunset. You could even go to the tip of the place and could see a wonderful view. But there are too many people there which makes it too crowded.

It is undoubtedly one of the best spots on the island to watch the sunset but the crowd is crazy so in my opinion it’s a bit overrated. There are many other beautiful but quiet places without massive crowds of mostly Chinese people. They don’t even care about the sunset. They click their photo, turn around and leave without even looking at the sun! They are loud and noisy.
The place is probably still worth a visit but I wouldn’t go there again. Unless there is some secret spot to hide from the insanity

The Cape is one of the must do locations for anyone visiting phuket. Mainly tourist visit for the sunset, and it's a wonderful sight, the only problem is that it's crowded and noisy. I walk up the Cape early mornings. There are very few people around, its cool usually with a sea breeze, but mostly it's quiet and very peaceful, perfect to sit and admire the wonderful view.

Make sure you go to this place in the afternoon. It has a great sunset view with hills, mountains, open sea.
This is around 30 to 45 mins drive from Patong area. Roads going there are safe and nice. There are a few places along the road that you can stop like elephant sanctuary, some beaches etc.
