We also purchased the $199 offer - after several emails were able to confirm accomodation that would coincide with the too good to refuse airfares we found - we too took up the option to upgrade to a Royal Jacuzzi Suite - we weren't disappointed. Although the resort isn't close by to Patong or Phuket Town, we were fazed by this as we had done our research and it met our needs - away from the hustle and bustle and younger crowds. Thank you to Richard for organising motor scooters for us - above and beyond your duty. The resort offers an exceptional view and the layout of the villas perfect, very private. The resport is not overcrowded - no fighting for poolspace or a sunlounge. We were approached to attend a presentation, at a time that did not suit us, and we were easily accomodated at a mutually suitable time - we did not feel pressured into attending, nor did we feel pressured into signing any contracts. Look out Golden Tulip - these girls will be back

I bought the $199 voucher, for 7 nights in a Jacuzzi room, as it was our 25th Wedding Anniversary. After many emails back and forth trying to get the dates we wanted we finally had a reservation for 2 weeks later! I sent them another email requesting "Return Transfers" and was told that I would have to send them 2.400 baht before I arrived and they would sort it out. Well, when we got to Phuket Airport, guess what?? No-one was there to pick us up!!! After we finally arrived at the resort, no-one wanted to know about our complaints and then Michael (the resorts customer service officer) was very apologetic, mentioned quietly that he'd see about getting us a refund. On our second last day, I had to see "Charles" about a refund, he proceeded to tell me that there WAS a person at the airport that day, but we had left and so he had to pay them. "He had our money that we had given him through Paypal, so what was his complaint??" What a joke, no refund for us!! After our arrival, we discovered that the drinks and food were 3 times higher than places outside the "resort" Funny that. And also, that we had to sit through a 1 and a half hour presentation to buy into the resort's time share scheme! Ah, that's why we couldn't get the dates we wanted. The place is full of time share customers and people on the $199 vouchers to buy Time share! We were also told upon arrival that we had been upgraded from the Jacuzzi Room to a Garden villa!!! Huh? How is that an upgrade??? And what was with the outdoor room with stone's, 1 chair and footstool??? We ended up using it as a room to dry our swimming costumes!! If you are disabled or have trouble with your knees, this place isn't for you, as the place is full of stairs. Oh, let me mention "Happy Hour", from 5 to 6.30, only cocktails and they are full of ice and served in smaller glasses than outside of happy hour! The first night we were there, Happy Hour finished half an hour after it started. Will never stay at this resort nor recommend it to anyone

We visited the resort on a $199 deal through deal monkey. We had no problems booking in and enjoyed our week immensely. The resort isn't in central Phuket but this has it's advantages as you are away from all the hustle and bustle which is what we were after. Getting to town was easy when needed only a cab ride away and we managed to get round trips for around 800 baht ($24). The resort helped us set this up with a driver Mr Nong who was fantastic.
We purchased a breakfast package for the week and airport transfers which helped. Breakfast was nice. My partner believes the best omelettes he's ever had. The rest of breakfast was nice but needs to be cooked a little fresher.
The pool was fantastic and hardly ever crowded, a great place to relax.
The spa offers great packages a little more expensive then down the road but you are paying for the convienience.
We stayed in the superior garden studio. We didn't upgrade. Our room was lovely and clean. Flowers on pillow on arrival and a fruit platter in fridge. We also recieved 2 free bottles of water every day in our room ( we tipped the housekeeper everyday (20 baht) and by doing this left a note and recieved extra water). The outdoor shower was great. The rooms may not be extremely modern but they were lovely for us. A great big bed and aircon.
We ate in the restaurant a few times. It is pricier then eating out but your are paying for the convienience. The food is lovely and fresh.
The best part of our day was happy hour by the pool 5-6.30pm. Two for one cocktails (290 baht- $9 )The prices of the other drinks are a little pricey for phuket and the resort should look at lowering just a little to get people to stay in and drink.
Michael the resort customer service officer was fabulous. He was always around for a chat and a great representative for mangosteen.
As part of the $199 deal we had a free lunch and listened to a resort talk from
Amanda regarding a holiday package. This lasted about 1 1/2 hours. We were under no pressure what so ever or obligation. We actually ended up buying in as we believe it's a great deal what they are offering so listen if you can.
We were not hounded or pressured in any way and any contact made after our lunch came from us.
I took part in a free scuba lesson held on Friday afternoons in the pool. This was a a great free idea offered by resort and alot of fun.
We took the free bus to and from nai Harn beach and had a lovely time. Ate a food mama the food was great.
Highly recommend two restaurant within walking distance from the resort Moo Tex Mex turn left at end of lane and Modena Pizza right at end of lane. ( this was the best pizza of my life. Cooked by lively Italian chef who has been making pizza for over 30 years) amazing.
We also took two day trips from resort that they helped organize. John gray canoeing was awesome and sea quest day trip snorkeling to coral island and raya island was really good.
Big Buddha nearby is a must.
We loved this resort we could do as much or as little as we wanted. The distance didn't bother us at all. This IS a boutique resort which is more remote then many other resorts but this was the appeal for us.
We loved our time and cannot wait to return.

Just concluded our stay at the mangosteen after buying the $199 for 7 nights deal and then upgrading to a royal jacuzzi room for $50 a night extra.

It's an absolutely beautiful resort. A little bit secluded, so you have to walk/ride/catch taxi to eateries/beach etc. but it's easy enough.

Room was very good - 4 poster king size bed with mosquito net and another single bead in there too. Couch and places to sit. Not sure about the stones instead of tiles in the shower but the rest of the bathroom area was very nice. Good size balcony with jacuzzi that had good view over the bay and out towards phi phi island (on a very clear day you can see it)

Only one pool but it's of a good size and due to the size of the resort itself, it never gets too crowded in there. Could use a couple of extra chairs though, especially around the happy hour.

Service is very good and the english of the reception staff is generally very good.

Restaurant is a bit pricey (probably due to the secluded location of the resort) but offers good food. The thai menu is a little short on quantity. If you walk towards Nai Han beach, there are plenty of good places to eat, within a 20-25 minute walk from the resort. I'd recommend trying this (I'll try to post reviews of some of these places too). We didn't have breakfast but it goes for about 400baht per person - again, i'd make the walk towards nai han beach and eat down there.

Resort offers free shuttle to Nai Han beach (which is absolutely beautiful) - on the hour from 9am-6pm and return trips too.

If you've bought a deal voucher, you will more than likely be offered a complimentary breakfast or lunch where you will eat with one of the sales representatives to discuss timeshare options etc. The discussion isn't of a pressure variety - we found even after we'd declined the offer, the people that talked to us were still extremely pleasant to us.

All in all, we had a really great time there and enjoyed ourselves
