“Great resort away from the hustle and bustle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2012

My finance and I stayed for 8 nights and we had a fantastic time. Our room was great, staff were friendly and courteous, our room was clean and well maintained.
I have read the previous reviews and I could not disagree more. We found no mould in our rooms.
The resort was quiet as to be expected in monsoon season, the resturants were quiet which was fine with us as it added to an intimate setting. The food served in the Thai resturant was delicious and reasonably priced for a resort as where the drinks.
The location is far enough away to get away from the hustle and bustle but also only about a 15 minute easy walk to the main area of Patong beach. The nightly free shuttle bus was efficient with 4 hourly intervel drop offs throughout the early evening.
The tour desk lady was very helpful, she spoke english well and was not at all pushy. When a tour was cancelled due to bad weather she was more than accomodating helping us rearrange our shedule.
The concierge and reception staff spoke english well as did the head breakfast host. The other staff spoke very basic english however we didnt have any issues with a comminication barrier. The security guards held the traffic for us on the main road so we could cross safely, they were always smiling and friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms toward the front of the resort are closest to breakfast and reception. These rooms also have s...

Well we have stayed at this hotel 18 times over the past 20 years it was a great hotel wil wonderful poition vistas elegance great staff 3 pools actvities and the luxuary of a great holiday well alas how the Diamond has lost its sparkeTatty furnishings in the rooms and around the pool staff doubling up on jobs no atmosphere no activities infact no life in the hotel at all very depressing . The food is so expensive and the portions small one bottle of water cost 1.20 the same bottle in supermatket cost 20 pence anyway no one ate in the resteraunts which also need a good face lift and lower the prices WE stayed for 21 days this time and could not wait to get away yes the staff are wonderful kinf helpful and the hotels greatest s asset ( they are not to my mind treated very well ) working long hours but then thast my concern although I feel sorry for such wonderful people . The hotel has lost its ways with now catering for Koreans who spend 2 nights in the hotel even the management seem to think that not too good . A few Australian who also said the hotel was bad never saw another brit there . I did speake to the management who agrred there was much to be done to get the hotel back on track and also agreed that it should be a resort hotel not a 2 night stop over . I can honestly say I could never recommend anyone to stay there althogh over the years I have send many people there but untill hotel comes up to scratch I will never go back j there again Its a shame as WE love what was once a real Diamond if I wear to give it stars maybe just about 3 not worth anyone,

First off I'm not one to complain but after spending 2 glourious weeks at a 3* we wanted to go upmarket to a 5* for our last week. What a huge disappointment because if we hadn't off already booked and payed for 2 ocean view rooms through agoda for a family of 5 we wouldn't have even checked in. It took 2 hrs to view 4 connecting rooms which all stank of mould to the point it made you feel sick just opening the door so finally had to settle for the 2 that stank the least !!
The rooms are def not cleaned to a high standard and are old and outdated def not like the pictures on the web page. This is the main reason as to why I'm writing this review just to warn others of this danger. The one thing that we couldn't believe was the major danger on the balconies of both rooms and others I could see from our room. Off the main balcony you can step onto a narrow balcony in front of the bathroom window which has NO barrier at all just a small step ?? We were on the 3rd floor with children !! Needless to say they were not allowed outside unless we were with them. Too bad if you had a toddler as there was no bolts on the doors and they could easily wander out to the balcony or if an adult had one drink too many.!! I am assuming there should be a door or something to stop access to the bathroom balcony as there were holes in the side of the walls but NOT on our 2 rooms or others I could see if you dare lean over to look as the wood on the main balcony was very loose too. So please be aware of this danger if you do book here.
Just to add to our misery on thankfully our last day our 11 yr old son was told by the towel man he couldn't swim at the empty ocean pool unless he removed his rash shirt ...it was 36 deg but couldn't give me a reason why so I said he would be swimming unless he could give me a valid reason why not...??
The only one good thing I have to say about this hotel is that the grounds are lovely and well kept and the staff try but has to comes down to management in the end.
Sad as this was our last week in Phuket and we seriously couldn't wait to check out of this hotel.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and it just gets better and better. We had an ocean front suite and the view was amazing, the room was cleaned every day, linen and towels changed when ever we wanted. The staff were great, always a smile and very helpful nothing was too much trouble. The courtesy bus at night into Patong is great ,a Tuk Tuk back will only co st you 200 baht. We h ad the buffet breakfast which was very good with plenty of choise. we would recomend this hotel to anyone and already planning for next year.

Room Tip: We have never had a room which we were not happy with
