We first visited this hotel for 4 nights in October 2013 when it was undergoing major renovation work and less than half of the hotel was in use. Despite this, the location, rooms, staff and overall experience were sufficient to compel us to return to the revamped hotel for a longer stay earlier this year.
We were not disappointed; the hotel had tripled in size with a fabulous new reception area, new bars, restaurants and an additional pool. Everything good from our first trip was still there together with many enhancements.
Our friends were visiting Thailand for the first time and were amazed by the quality of experience at the Amari Phuket. Jokingly we tried to find fault and could only come up with the lack of a full length mirror in the rooms and the underuse of the beautiful jetty which is a short walk along a tree lined coastal path from the main hotel buildings!
We did not encounter a single instance of less than perfect service from all the staff and always with a smile.
The food is excellent and good value, and there are several very popular "happy hours" throughout the hotel bars.
The Amari is ideally located with great views and is just a 20-30 minute walk from Patong or 200THB by tuk tuk - close enough when you want the hustle and bustle of the town but sufficiently distant when you don't.
A big thank you to Pierre and all the staff at the Amari Phuket for a memorable stay, and the day after we landed back in the UK I was online planning for when we might return!!
