We had booked a few nights at a hotel around the corner and had 3 nights more to book before our departing flight. After checking out a few nearby hotels, we found the La De Bua Hotel to be the best choice. It is a budget hotel that does not serve breakfast, but nearby Orange Restaurant and Patong Corner Restaurant offer excellent breakfasts for a few dollars. La De Bua is situated in a narrow lane off the main street, with a Tiger Hotel and Bar and some smaller bars in the lane as well. These tended to be noisy at night, so a room at the back of the hotel is much quieter. There are several laundry services and motorbike hire places in the lane as well. It is a ten minute walk to the beach. We enjoyed our stay here. Staff were great and we shared quite a few jokes. Room was spacious and was kept clean and tidy. It is an easy walk to Bangla Road and Jungceylon shopping centre. Only negative was the disgusting smell emanating from the bathroom in the middle of the night. Loose tiles had been placed over both the drains but they did nothing to stop the smell.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter

Centrally located, love the convenience of walking to main street, atm, stores. Smooth check in and check out experience. Stayed here for 3 nights and am happy to come again. Decent hot shower, clean and comfortable

Stayed at La De Bua this past April and for the price it was a great deal.
Pros: Staff - very friendly and curteous; Locstion; clean rooms and bathrooms; air-conditioning worked great.
Cons: Drain smelled sometimes; water in shower area drained slow sometimes.
Definately would recommend for a budget hotel.

We stayed here last year for a much better rate and a last minute change of plan brought us back to Phuket, therefore we thought "stick with what we know"...I wish we hadn't. Last year it was clean and felt value for money, this year the rooms were dirty and covered in cobwebs. The rooms are cleaned daily and I'm sure the staff work hard but it's the stains on the walls and mouldy shower curtains that let it down. Due to difficulties with the aircon we tried three different rooms (read my reviews I'm not a fussy person) non of which had fully working aircon but all of them had a horrendous smell coming from the drains. It's a real shame because for a budget hotel it's in a good location and for this reason and because of their friendly security guard I am giving them two stars.

Stayed here last year, didn't any complaints whats so ever, enjoyed our stay. But this year 5 nights we stayed I would have wished we stayed in a different hotel. The first room we got as soon as we entered smelt of sewage, the toilet pipe leaked and the shower curtains were cover in mould . We managed to get the smell out by opening the windows and spraying some air freshener. We had the same routine till the 3rd night the aircon stopped working. We let the reception know they said they have a look at it. Came back that night and nothing was done to sort the air con problem out. It got unbearable to stay in the room, on complaining they ended up giving us another room which had the same sewage smell and what do you know the air on didn't work properly either. We managed to stay a night in that room without having proper sleep as the air con wasn't cooling the room at all. We complained again then they gave us another room, we had to pack our bags again and move our stuff to the new room. In the evening when we got back to the hotel the same smell was coming in the room. The 2 water drains in the toilet were covered with pieces of cloth to cover the smell. It was our last night so we put up with it as it seemed more hassle to complain or move hotels for one night. The management need to look into the upkeep of the hotel. Compared to last year it was more expensive, run down and smelly which is a shame as the location is very good.
