“Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed 3 April 2012

Stayed for a week in the Aleenta recently, I found it to be a wonderful boutique Hotel, the rooms were impeccable, the staff were attentive and friendly without being over the top in servility that you sometimes get elsewhere.
James was a delight, helpful in every way and amusing with it.
The area is peaceful and very clean, there is enough to do with some pleasant local eateries and yet is near enough to Hua Hin for the livelier nights should you want them as well.
The scenery is stunning, if you want some fun rent an ATV buggy car down the road and take every cart track you see, great fun.
A***** in every way.

The Aleenta is an all-suite hotel built on Pranburi's Moonlight Mile. It's a sincerely friendly and happy hotel, mainly thanks to James's cheerful management (though he'll groan about the name check). All rooms are different and designed on Feng Shui principles - there are Jaccuzi suites and penthouses and villas and beehive houses and rooms with decks from which you can slip directly into the glorious, palm-shaded infinity pool. Almost all are on the beach and have Get Off (of) My Cloud pillows and beds to sink into, wallowy bathrooms and very groovy indoor-outdoor, rustic living space. Only a few are totally private, so ask when booking.

What you need to know is that there are two wings, the Main Wing and the Frangipani Wing. Now, much as I quite like children - some children - ok, then, my children, I really love the fact that the Main Wing is reserved for grownups, and families stay in Frangipani. Neither is the least favoured twin, so don't think you're settling for second best, whichever you choose. They're about 7 minutes walk apart (or two by hotel tuktuk) and everyone gets to share the facilities, like the swim-up bar at the infinity pool, the Spa and the restaurant (but not the adult-only rooftop pool). This policy ensures that those in search of peace and quiet get it - no moaning required - and those looking for an unrestrainedly rambunctious holiday are also catered for, without incurring stiletto glances from the Woman Holding Onto Her Hat.

We also felt good about their root to table eco measures - we visited the gardens where veg, salads and herbs are grown organically by the manager (and by local schoolkids), and approve of their organic 'fogging', total recycling and low watt lightbulbs. Bedlinen (soft as can be) is changed on demand.

Stuff inside the hotel is good - food, zingy toiletries, house pyjamas, spa, in-room facilities like WiFi and nice teas. Outside there's plenty to do: kitesurfing, unspoilt beach walks, wats, nature reserves and night markets to visit.

This trip won't be The Last Time we come back: Wild Horses wouldn't keep us away.

Room Tip: Didn't get to see inside the Penthouse, but, as it's the most expensive, it's undoubtedl...

If you are looking for a quiet spot away from it ALL - this place is for you. The service is excellent so if leaving the resort for activities is of interest, it is easy.

This lovely little hotel is a bit of elegance in a quiet, but lovely strip of beach in Thailand. It is a quiet, understated luxury - those seeking obsequious, stuffy servility need not apply. The service is impeccable. Everyone quietly ensures your every need is attended and that your stay is wonderful. The food is fresh and amazing, and is absolutely organic and fresh - for those that have been dubious of this claim, I can vouch for the veracity of their claims. The staff are lovely, professional and more than patient. The rooms are elegant and the property, unlike some of the hotels, actually fits nicely in its surroundings, blending into the quiet town versus standing apart from it.
I have been three times and have already booked a return trip. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful, luxurious, respite. Just as long as you don't take my room.
