The choices on the breakfast menu cannot be beaten. The home made corned beef hash is outstanding as are the omelettes and pancakes. Just delicious.
Was looking forward to visiting this "landmark" old-fashioned diner which had been picked as brunch spot for a family gathering. The food was okay, but didn't hold up to that vintage, homey excellence one has come to expect from such places. Would try somewhere else next time.
Stopped in for lunch. Quickly seated. Great waitress. Just what a diner service experience should be. Food came quick. Super good pastrami meat and excellent rye bread. Homemade coleslaw was very surprising not the usual mush. And of course fresh cold crunchy pickles on the side. Only in New York! A bit pricey but this is NY state. Would be back.
My wife and I stopped for breakfast this morning. Very clean, our server was very nice, but never called me honey or sugar which signifies a diner. The homemade hash is very good however is served on a white plate with white eggs covering it. No fruit garnish just boring white and plan. Remember Gateway, customers first eat with their eyes. Bread can either make or break a good breakfast. We were served store bought bread which earns a C-. Coffee was on the week side and they serve smucker packs of jelly = another C-.
On our way out what happened to the big plate of Italian cookies? Fix these issues and they can hit a home run.
