When my husband and I visit his family in the Troy, NY area, it is somewhat challenging to find a restaurant that has a wide-ranging menu to suit the different tastes of family members. I did some research and found Barcelona, which is where we ended up going. I'm a relatively recent vegetarian, and found there were several items on the menu that sounded really appetizing, as opposed to often boring "token" vegetarian dishes. I had the Pasta Puttanesca, my husband had the Mahi Mahi special, his mother the Salmon Barcelona, and my brother-in-law, the Butternut Squash Ravioli. Everyone was happy with their meal, which came with a dinner salad. The ambience was pleasant and quite quiet as we arrived at 6pm, but the noise level - as with most places - increased as more people came in. The service was excellent and consistent.
The only thing I would comment on to be helpful is that accessibility could be better; the restrooms are upstairs, which was challenging for my mother-in-law to negotiate in a walker. She managed it, and enjoyed her night out, but this might be more of an obstacle for someone else.
All in all, a great find. Hope to go back when we're next in the Troy-Albany area.
