“Great Drinks, Good Dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2012

Our cocktails were the best we've ever had. Our waiter knew exactly how to make a perfect Manhattan before our meal arrived. I had the duck and my boyfriend had the short ribs. My duck was cooked to perfection, while his short ribs were a little too fatty for his liking. We would definitely go back if we're ever in the area again. The service was exceptional and the location is very central to downtown.

“Good food - great music”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2012

We went to hear music and have a meal at 74 State. I had the lobster bisque and my husband had Char, our friends had a bento box of vegetarian apps and a fish dish. The food and service were good and we enjoyed the music (boptitude) The bar has big windows overlooking the street below - it is on the second floor.

“go to McDonalds instead”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2009

I stayed at 74 State recently and unfortunately decided to have lunch at Marche - what a disaster. Checked out of the hotel so arrived in the restaurant just at 12 noon - only one other table was seated. Interestingly, they didn't have food in front of them - we found out why soon enough. After sitting for about 10 minutes, someone finally came over with menus and took our drink orders. It took another 10 minutes for an ice tea and soda water to arrive. A few other tables were seated by this time and they were ignored as well. We finally placed our order - 2 sandwiches and a bowl of soup - 40 minutes later - not even kidding - no food had arrived - in fact, no food had come out of the kitchen door. When we finally located a waitress, she said they (the wait staff) weren't allowed in the kitchen so she couldn't tell how long it would be, but a runner would be our with our food when it was done - with the exception of the soup, which I assume is premade, our items didn't even require cooking. If it hadn't been pouring rain outside and we would have left, but having invested that much time, stayed and ate our mediocre meal. It took 2 shots to get the correct bill when we wanted to leave. This was midweek and the legislature is out of session, so not a lot going on in Albany - and not a busy day at the restaurant - I would recommend a McDonalds over this restaurant for quality of food and service.
