I do not like to write bad reviews for hotels as it could have been an 'off day' for the hotel. However, this hotel is situated on the busiest road junction in Bukittinggi. There are traffic lights on this junction and as the road is the main highway from east to west Sumatra then it is busy all night. The windows are partly wooden slats which you cannot close and so the noise from outside goes on and on and on!!!!
The hotel rooms are small, dirty and the furniture is ripped / broken. The room was also crawling with ants. Needless to say we checked out after 1 night and when we told reception that we were leaving they did not seem at all surprised.
We moved to the Campago Resort Hotel which was fabulous...

Usually I do not mind staying at budget hotels as long as the price is reasonable for the fare they provide. We stayed in this hotel because it has recently been renovated and we wanted to experience the new hotel.

At the reception there is a free-flowing juice drink at the counter as a welcome.

Our room faced the wall of another building. The room smelled musty due to having poor air circulation. There was no air-conditioning nor fan. Staff did not even provide fan when requested (not available). For travelers from tropical country the room temperature might be bearable (it is in the high lands anyway), but I doubt travelers from other countries will be happy with the lack of fans or air-conditioning.

Our bathroom would not even close properly. They did not refill the toilet paper when they clean the room. So the service is much to be desired.

Breakfast buffet is ok with the Indonesian fried rice, crackers and fruit. You will have to order ala carte for Western fares. The price of the room service dishes is a bit steep too, compared to the prices of room service meals at a good 3-star hotel in Jogjakarta.

What is surprising is the price of this hotel is about the same as a 4-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Enough said.
