“Private piece of Bali with great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2012

When you walk around the property and or spend time in your villa (in or out), there is a sense of experiencing Bali in your own bubble. The rice field views are peaceful and fun when the ducks are out marching along the paths. You get this view every morning!

We found the food was excellent and varied to many nationalities. We had two dinners and two lunches here, each with very good results! Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed the fresh fruit plates. The ambiance both day and night was special, with the serving staff being very efficient and sweet with their big smiles.

The private Pool at the villa was great and a welcome treat after shopping or touring- you just want to jump in once you get back from the hot and humid day's activities. The bed is very comfortable and you don't feel any movement from your partner....I slept great. The resort itself is in good condition, but there are a few odd items requiring a little care. The pool towels in your villa are a little tired , as is the table runner...small items that they can easily corrected. We enjoyed the outdoor shower! What a feeling.

The shuttle service was very valuable, especially when you get a large number of taxi offers while in town. A perfect combination of being in town, but with your own private garden villa to enjoy. It is also good to note they spray twice weekly for Mosquitos and as such you can enough the outdoors at dusk and at night.

Room Tip: They are all nice!

In a very attractive situation on the outskirts of Ubud, the hotel runs a complimentary shuttle service to its town centre sister hotel every hour right up to 22.00 hours which is very useful, it would not be impossible to walk back to the hotel if needed.
Our largish villa had a garden with its own small pool and sitting areas, as apparently they all do. Good size room with outside bath, inside and outside showers and three fish pools!, incidentally the outside shower was one of the weakest features as it had a shower nozzle which gave such a fine weak shower as to be useless. The curved main pool was pleasant and a Balinese style complimentary tea was laid on every day at four. The restaurant where we had one evening meal was not exceptional, as with many small hotels they are not big enough or busy enough to do much in the restaurant line. Overall a very pleasant spot.

We stayed at Ubud Village Resort & Spa for 2 nights, 3 days (9th - 11th Dec) and it was a beauty from the word go. When we entered, we expected to find a money changer / ATM to be able to pay our taxi driver, which unfortunately was not there anywhere close. So the question was how do we pay our taxi guy - well to our pleasant surprise, the the resort paid the taxi guy on our behalf even before we had checked in.

Beyond this, the welcome was beautiful with the welcome drink and a person warmly explaining to us what's on the cards and what we could do over the next couple of days. As we were escorted to our villa, we were mezmerized by the enchanting surroundings, and the beauty of the place. Our pool villa had a name plate in our name and it seemed like it was just waiting for us. The villa overlooked the rice field and was absolutely scintillating. The villa had a small pond, a pool, indoor and outdoor bathroom and a gazebo all of which was comfort par excellence. The fruits and chocolates were kept artistically in a bird cage and the honeymoon cake provided too was

The villa did not have a kitchenet, however, the staff was more than eager to cook us some of our Indian ready to eat vegetarian food, when we returned late much after the closing restaurant hours.

The common swimming pool was fantastic and way too beautiful for us to miss. This resort was majestic with its aura of peace and beauty. A must to visit and I definitely will once again with family (hopefully if i get a good deal and room rates don't escalate :))

Overall - can't be missed if its your honeymoon. And if its with family, just hope that you get a great deal, as there can't be a better place to live in Bali than this one.

I would like the entire staff at Ubud Village Resort & Spa who made our honeymoon a memorable experience overall.

About Ubud:

Go for the fire show in Ubud, make it to the monkey forest, go to a spa and shop at the ubud market. And while you do all this, make sure that you rent a bike first. Also remember to bargain in the markets. You will also have an opportunity to explore furniture work and paintings. Make sure you do lots and lots of shopping and bargain hard, coz stuff you get here is amazing and possibly 1/10th the price you could get same stuff elsewhere (malaysia for example)

Room Tip: The bird watching tour is avoidable.

We stayed for two weeks in the Ubud Village Resort, villa# 420. This is an exceptionally beautiful hotel and grounds. The hotel has rooms and then separate villa compounds. Each villa is a small private compound with it's own swimming pool and two covered cabanas. There was a beautiful view of the rice terraces from our villa/bungalow and pool area. The bedroom had windows all the way around for views of the pool and rice terraces. The rooms had both inside and outside bathrooms and shower/ tubs. The outside tub had a covered roof with candles around the tub and was wonderful to sit in during rainstorms. The hotel staff places incense and flowers around the bath areas as well as the bedrooms. Nice touch. Our room had sat. tv and a music system. Fresh fruit is brought to the rooms each day and breakfast is served in a building that gives you wonderful views of rice terraces and a volcano. Breakast was excellent and served to the beautiful sounds of Balinese music. The breakfast is included in the room price. The grounds of this hotel are very beautiful with pools and gardens. The hotel provided transportation around the Ubud area also within the room price. Ubud is an amazing town for arts, crafts, massage, hikes, birds, monkeys and Balinese culture and music. Bali is a very magical island. The heart of Bali is not along the coast and beaches but toward the center of the island. Driving around Bali is truly incredible. There is one volcano after another all terraced with rice and beautiful people working the fields. The Balinese Hindu culture is very colorful and there seems to be festivals going on all the time. One sees a lot of ceremonies and processions as you drive around through central Bali. Check out the snorkeling off of Menjangan Island in the north. It is part of the Bali Barat National Park and the best snorkeliing I have seen other than the Great Barrier Reef. I liked the rice terraces around the areas of Selat and Muncan and do not miss driving to the top of Mt. Batur. Fantastic island and the Ubud Village Resort is the perfect place to stay !
