We stayed at bale bali house during the nyepi, the Hindu-balinese New Year. It was a great surprise for us. And staying with the bale bali family really made the diference. They have only 3 rooms which are confortable, clean, new and well decorated. Great breakfast, good shower. But the best thing is that the rooms are inside the family land and you have the oportunity to meet koming's family (the owner), talk to them and be in touch with the real balinese culture and way of life. This was very important for us cause we could understand all the celebrations of the ogoh ogoh parade that happens the day before nyepi. During the nyepi, known as the silent day, anyone is allowed to go outside and all the tourists had to stay inside the hotel and staying with bale bali family was very special. They opened their house, history and heart to us. Koming also guided us on a tour around ubud. We visited temples, rice fields and the volcano batur. He is very kind and prestative and we feel very happy and thankful for having the oportunity to meet him and his family. (We loved papa, koming's father)
This is my frist time to have stay in Ubud and in this place.. I saw Bale Bali House on internet and booking it online.. they have nice environment.. As a guest house, Bale Bali House offer an uniquely experiences.. Because we have to stay in a local quiverful place.. So we feel like one of them.. And everyone of the family member very nice and friendly.. I feel so welcomed in Bale Bali House. :)

We booked in booking on price and rating. When arrived it appeared it's a family compound you're sleeping. Location is good, 2 min walk to the shops. Rooms are very clean, wifi available, airco and a nice bed. The grandfather has been a chef, and Cooke on request for you, ask the rijsttafel! Nice breakfast and very kind people.
Booked a room for 10 days, having seen the raving reviews on another website.
Room was nice & clean, an attached bathroom with hot/cold shower and strong wifi. It's perfect for solo/2 people traveling together.
Breakfast was included in my package - simple & yummy (I love the omelette & pancakes), and Papa is more than happy to whip up lunch or dinner for you if you feel lazy to go out or get a case of Bali belly (in my case!) and need something warm and nourishing.
The place is on a side road off of Hanoman St, but just a few minutes is enough to reach it. So it's nice & quiet. Coco's Supermarket is a leisure 5min walk away and you can get all the amenities you need there. There's also a nearby laundry service which is very reasonably priced.
It's literally just a walk away from many cafes/restaurants (Dirty Duck Diner is about 10min, there's a warung that sells yummy organic vegan food just 5min walk away in another direction)... Monkey Forest Road starts about 7min away.
It's within a local Balinese family's home, so if you're looking at a hotel-like environment, this might not be your cup of tea. But for a real experience of Bali & Balinese hospitality, I would encourage you to stay at Bale Bali House. The family is warm & welcoming - you can always have a chat with them, find out about their lives, Bali & its culture. Koming (the owner) was a champ and super duper helpful & quick to respond to my questions online prior to visiting, which reassured me as it was my first time in Bali & alone.
There's also a range of services & tours offered - I would advise to check in & pre-arrange any tours/classes/services before you fly if possible, as he juggles between running Bale Bali & his other job, so it's good to get all the nitty-gritty details sorted out first. Papa used to be a chef so if you're into cooking classes, that's something you might want to check out.
The neighbor's chickens sometimes decide to crow at the oddest of hours but it's pretty muffled. Not at all like the noise that visitors who've stayed in other places have complained about. I personally slept like a baby but if you're super sensitive to noise, bring some ear plugs.
