“Breathtaking- relaxing, pampering”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Our evening arrival was met with mesmerizing magical starry night and musical lulling of rice field nature. After a lengthy ride from the airport, we were met by our personal butler at the entrance. He checked us into our Villa (#1) inside our villa. Given it was dark, my first impression of the property was taken first at sunrise-- absolute stunning, great representation of Ubud- which is a painted vivid natural scape and with background music by natures- water, birds, insects, rustling of leaves. (We live in Singapore, there is the need to escape the traffic, construction and crowd to reset our senses). We were told the hotel was 100% full during our 3 night stay. Given the expansiveness of the complex, the most number of people (about 8 parties) we saw was during breakfast or dinner. Our butler was not intrusive of our privacy and was very helpful in all aspects from arranging tours and finding out about artists whom we are interested in and where their works are being displayed. The driver who took us on our full day tour was knowledgeable of the area in Ubud and his English was very good. We have 2 children (age 10 & 11) whom I wish there was some activities available for them- such as arts and craft or bike ride within the hotel, etc. That being said, I sent them exploring the rice field complex on their own. My daughter was thrill with the black and white swans. They enjoyed swimming in their very own pool and have their own room. The breakfast included in the room rate was good; cocktail and teas were also part of the room rate. Try the red basil mojito. Certain nights there are Kecak performances, we took of advantage of that along with a tour of the rice field and adjacent village led by our butler. The staff was very warm and well trained. Will definitely stay there again when in Ubud.

This hotel is a very good representative of what Bali offers - scerenity. We loved its lush plants, beautiful statutes of Genesha and friendly staff. We were there for our anniversary celebration and our pool villa was the perfect place for it. We stayed there for 5 nights and had no desire to go outside of the hotel! The friendly and efficient staff gave us a romantic dinner in the middle of the rice field which we highly recommend for special occasions. The only weakness is the lack of choice in food at the restaurant although it offers great breakfast options.

We booked Chedi Club for a three night stay after our time in the orangutan sanctuary in Borneo. We were looking for a bit of pampering after our rustic stay at Rimba Lodge. I believe this hotel is WAY too pricey for what it offers. People were generally kind, and food was well prepared. Breakfasts were very nice, though no better than we had had elsewhere in Indonesia. Our less than 48 hours there, for which we paid for three full nights, were NOT a good value. That being said, it is a spectacular, idyllic and extremely beautifully designed setting. And if you have ANY mobility issues, please stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good. Most of the variables have to do with square footage or proximity to po...

Dear Guests,

Thank you for your review and we do value and appreciate your feedback. We regret that you considered our property to be not the best value for your money; we constantly work on improving Club benefits, and in terms of Ubud and surrounding properties of a similar standing we do consider ourselves to be very much competitive.

Regarding the mobility issues we appreciate your bringing this to our attention, and would be very grateful to have a few more details on where you thought access was lacking, so that this can be fixed as soon as possible. Most of our pathways are flat without steps, and with our second entrance we can bypass the steps at the main entrance. We're currently coming up with a wheelchair-accessible restaurant entrance that has three steps up. If you noticed any other areas during your stay here that could be improved in terms of accessibility, please do let us know at gm@thechediclububud.com.

Regarding the room tip, here I must supply a little more information on our rooms -- we have suite villas, pool villas, spa villas and a two-bedroom estate, spread over our 5 hectares of open space. Square footage depends only on the villa type, and since the pool and spa are centrally located, it wouldn't take more than a minute at most to walk between them and the farthest villa.

Thank you again for your review and we look forward to getting any details from you that could resolve our mobility and access issues.

With kind regards,

The Management Team

Stayed for 3 nights at the Chedi with my wife recently and had a superb stay. The room was fantastic. We went for the spa room option which included a 90 min massage a day in the adjoining spa room facility. There are plenty of little touches about our stay here that made it excellent, but what I would really like to say about this hotel is that although it is certainly not cheap, it still represents very good value relative to other similar offerings in/around Ubud in my opinion. Attention to detail and service is superb.
Is there was one small gripe I suppose it would be that although you are offered complimentary drops in and out of Ubud (with a small mobile phone given you to call and arrange for collection) but for slightly longer trips you aren't given an alternative to the hotel transport being offered (as far as I was aware anyway). Booking longer trips through the hotel guarantees that you have a decent car and friendly driver but expect to pay upwards of 300% of what it might cost through a metered service. Saying that, at the end of our stay we were offered transport to our next destination which wasn't something that the hotel necessarily needed to do. Overall I would very highly recommend this hotel as a spot to base yourself while in Ubud

Room Tip: spa room represents superb value

From the moment you step foot onto the pathway at the entrance to Chedi Club, Ubud, you know you have arrived in a very special and magical place like no other on earth!!
Breath-taking surroundings which are a combination of amazing water features, traditional Balinese sculptures and all in a location that brings the best of Bali's flora and fauna together. I can guarantee that around every corner and at every glance you will find the most beautiful views.
We were met by Rasti, who was our personal butler during our stay. She provided service that can only be described as perfect. We booked at spa villa which housed our own twin treatment room where we were spoilt with the most amazing Balinese therapists. Our villa also contained a personal sauna, plunge pool and huge bathing tub and tropical shower, all in a secluded courtyard garden.

The restaurant was also of the highest standard, and in a stunningly beautiful location overlooking rice fields. We met Dean the head chef who took time to discuss our culinary requirements and made us feel very special. Every person that works at the Chedi club is attentive, professional, arm and friendly and makes time to make you feel very special...

If you are looking for a place that is uber-luxe, the ultimate in relaxation, service, cuisine, spa treatments and an amazing location, then you must visit the Chedi Club, UBud.

P.S Make sure you book well in advance as there is only 12 individual villa's - that's how exclusive it is......
