Its fun to see Monkeys, but be prepared for a slippery walk through the forest and angry monkeys running at you scratching for bananas.

“The cutest little creatures in Bali”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2012

Sacred Monkey Forest, cluster of towering trees and home to hundreds of monkeys is an exceptional and a must experience in Bali. You will walk across a stretch of shops and stalls, with shop attendants that would go the extra mile with persuasion to convince you to shop in their place. Don't be intimidated by them, you can actually ignore them as they can be somehow annoying.
You will be warned from the entrance not to touch the monkeys, no matter how cute they seem like. They walk around and have the entire place to themselves, so you are technically in their territory.
You may take pictures of them. Keep guard of your bags, as they can sometimes snatch it.
Don't miss out on a memorial picture with the bats, they are harmless.

There have so many monkeys, they are sleeping, walking, fighting, and having fun with tourist. I like them, but not much view to take too much time there.

“Cute Place, Aggressive Caretaker”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

We like the place to start with. Went there twice and this time was supposed to be great additional before lunch in Ubud. Our kids just crazy about the monkeys and we are also the same. Didn't bother how "aggressiveness" they become.

But they are nothing compare to the care taker (they are look Balinese with the Balinese attribute) I felt a shame that they are not friendly, we paid just like any other, even I paid an extra because I brought foreigner (one is my partner and another is BF of our daughter) no argument but I can't stand how badly they treating the visitors. Kept on insisting to buy bunch of bananas, we smile and say no thank you, and still trying their luck. They left us with some Balinese words comment which usually used in such bad manner.

Anyway, they must be so proud to be working in that area and the visitor are less value than them

“Cool oasis in the heat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

This is a beautiful spot that has the benefit of being cool in the heat of Ubud! You can buy bananas to feed the monkeys, most of whom take them very gently from you - though watch out for the greedy ones that just want the whole bunch! Also really nice if you happen to be there when the staff feed them papaya leaves and other treats... Great to see the itty bitty babies that are still unsure wobbly on their legs but not the least afraid of people.
