Situated a 3 minute walk off monkey first road, this hotel is quiet and set amongst a rice fields and a beautiful spacious garden. The swimming pool area is good.

I stayed in a standard aircon room which was basic but had enough light and was clean. I did view a standard fan room which was further down towards the river and monkey forest road, which was cheaper but more dingy and far from welcoming. Id suggest you ask to see a room before checking in if you are in a fan room. However, booking online is usually cheaper.

I stayed here twice during my time in Ubud. Having checked out some other accommodation for similar prices, I found nicks pension the best option for me.

Checked in to the standard double which is probably one of the worst rooms we stayed in during our Indonesia trip yet one of the most expensive. We were allocated a standard double which is a garden bungelow. The room was small and extremely basic consisting of a really old bed, well worn out sheets, bed bugs and dirty towels. The rooms dont feel clean and smell musty. The staff here spend a lot of time here keeping the garden nice but little effort on the rooms. The bathroom was also something you'd expect from a place at the very low end of a travellers budget - small, smelly with a rubbish shower and broken toilet. Expect to get bitten at night. The deluxe rooms are nicer but, again, no where nearing worth the price they were asking.

The reception staff here we felt were also very arrogant who acted like they thought they were doing you favour in letting you stay here! We stayed here for only one night before checking in a hotel accross the road and for the same price got a large modern room with two large comfy beds, tv, minibar and friendly efficient service. There is a lot of good accomadation in Ubud so dont stay here!

It was our Honeymoon and we've been with Nick two years ago.
But since then they must have stoped cleaning and maintaining the rooms.
When we arrived Three things were brooken in our river view room incl. AC and Fan.
You had to argue with the Staff for New towels. They smell like rotten! Yuk!
Poor english of Staff.
Used soap in the room
Non exceptable bathroom.

We moved out after 4 nights to a homestay in a Honeymoon Suite which was perfect and cheaper!
Nick reinvest the money into the rooms. Its a shame!

Had stayed here 3 yrs ago but only in a superior room by the river. This time paid double and went for the deluxe option. I must admit view was stunning over the rice paddies and the room was huge with a four poster bed and massive bath! I would say that it was a little bit over priced and the breakfast was taken in a rather shabby room by reception. All in all if I returned I would opt for the superior room and save some money..

Nick's Pension is actually in an excellent location because Jln. Bisma is a quiet road but due to the path crossing the river and cutting up to Monkey Forest Road, it is very close to the shops and cafes in that area, especially those around the football pitch/playing ground. The rooms are in small houses arranged around padi fields, with a reception area, cafe and swimming pool near the entrance on Bisma. There is wifi in the cafe which serves an adequate breakfast. The setting is extremely relaxing, but the rooms nearer the river are more secluded, if a little dated compared to those closer to the padi fields. The showers have extremely hot water, the rooms are clean very enthusiastically in the morning, and there is a laundry service.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have more privacy.
