What a fabulous day. Bali on Bike picks you up at your hotel first thing in the morning for a leisurely drive up the mountains north of Ubud. The first stop is at a spice and coffee plantation for a sampling of hot infused drinks. Then on to the bikes for a 30 km coast down through villages, rice paddies, rural roads, and forest paths. The bikes were safe and in good condition. Guide and driver were knowledgable, fun and helpful. We learned all about Hindu temples, village life, and rice cultivation. The ride ends with a fabulous lunch at the owner's home then a drive back to hotel. Everything about this operation is first rate!

We were able to book the night before without any problems, were picked up promptly at the hotel and brought to Ubud and met "Bob." His English is quite good and as we drove with him further up the hills in Ubud he was able to pass on great amounts of information regarding the island, the lifestyle, and Hindu religion.

After a quick stop to check out a small farm and have teas, coffees, and breakfast, it was off to see the volcano and snap a few photos. From there, another ten minute car ride and then the bikes were assembled and the ride began.

At first a bit treacherous on the pothole-riddled roads higher in the hills, the ride became much easier as it continued. We rarely had to pedal since it is largely a downhill ride. We were able to simply sit back and enjoy the ride.

We stopped in a few different towns and temples and were told about the history and traditions and eventually had lunch at Bob's family home. The food was traditional Balinese and was delicious.

We were able to see plenty of other bike tour groups, but were ultimately very happy that we decided to go with Bali on Bike and would highly recommend to other travelers.

I was staying at a small place in Ubud last weekend and made arrangements to be picked up at a well known hotel. I'm sure that I would have enjoyed this bike tour but no one came by to pick me up. I arrived at the designated time and waited more than an hour. I did not have a local cell phone number but no one from Bali on Bike tried to email me either. Also, no response to my subsequent email relating what occured. Responses following my initial booking were prompt. I don't like having to leave negative feedback but this is what happened.

Brilliant day seeing the Balinese country side and villages. The meal bobs home at the end is wonderful. Lovely local people running the company and tours. Can't recommend it enough.

This was a great day out even though it rained solidly. We were picked up promptly at eight and taken by car to the coffee plantation to taste the Luwak coffee among others. Great coffee tasting experiences though the assistants were a bit pushy about buying the coffee. Bought some coffee, tea and incense. Then onward to the top of the volcano which was shrouded in cloud so I can't comment on that. Dewar (or BOB, from Bali on Bike) and his driver then took us to a quiet area to set up the bikes. They were good quality and easy to ride. There were only two of us on the day and so the driver followed behind while we mostly freewheeled the trail. Dewar stopped many times to show us temples and local crafts going on along the route. He had ponchos when the rain got especially heavy which was handy. The last part of the ride was the most interesting from Ubud to Dewar's village which meanders through rice paddies and is extremely picturesque. A great day was topped off by an amazing hot meal prepared by Dewar's wife, Eka, a couple of beers and a chat about current affairs in Bali. Dewar is a clever and interesting person who clearly loves Bali and catering to tourists. I would highly recommend Bali On Bikes. Thanks Dewar and Eke.
