Swastika Bungalows are located in the main street of Sanur Beach and centralised within the Sanur area. It is approx. 150 metres to the beach and an access road is opposite the entrance to the Bungalows which is a 'bonus' as beach access can be difficult from other main street accomodation.. There is a choice of room type commencing with fan not a/c and price reflects this choice. There are 3 swimming pools with one with a bar at the rear of the property surrounded by the more expensive rooms. We had the cheaper room with a/c and although the bathroom needed updating the main room was very large and all areas were neat and tidy. Tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer and fridge all in room Spar facilities on site with very professional therapists and at competitive prices. All staff were excellent including room, garden, breakfast and reception staff who were all willing to great and assist where necessary.

Very cenrtalized in Sanur is this the ideal spot for a short or longer stay in Sanur. The bungalows are situated more back from the main road, making it a quiet relaxed place.

The bungalow we had had two comfortable big beds, TV (with many international channels), AC, fridge, water cooker and fan. There was a large private bathroom with bath and toilet.

Our room was cleaned daily and also the rest of the resort is maintained daily. There are some nice pools with sunbeds, bars and a (temporary) restaurant (at the moment the real restaurant is being renewed, but this is done very quite).

The included breakfast is a very large buffet with everything you can imagine and some cooks can make you an egg or pancake. Enough variety to ensure you won't get bored even for a longer stay.

The staff is very friendly and helpfull.

General notes: This hotel is much larger than it appears on the website, there are close to 100 rooms/bungalows. The grounds have 3 pools and a lovely garden, but everything is dated. The bathrooms are stained and outdated, items in the rooms are worn, the fountains at the pool don't work, the day beds and umbrellas are dirty, ripped or broken. For the cost, you can get much more elsewhere.

The clientele is 60+ so don't book if you are a young person. This was my only disappointing experience with service in 3 trips to Bali.

My experience: We booked a standard fan room for a 1 night stay as we were just passing through Sanur. The entire roof of the main room had black mould on it, as did the roof and walls of the bathroom. When we pointed this out to reception and asked to move rooms to one without mould, they didn't seem to understand the issue. After looking at another standard fan room, which also had mould, they said we could pay for an upgrade, which I refused to do. Eventually they offered us a standard aircon room, but once we had moved they then came to the room while we were in it using their own key, and removed the aircon remote (which seemed extremely petty) and demanded that we pay the difference in cost between the two rooms. We decided to leave the hotel altogether and requested a refund, which we were not given.

Room Tip: Do not book a standard room

On arrival I was greeted by the friendly staff. They make you feel at home, like your part of the family. The room was on the second floor and it was nice and cool. The air-conditioning was running. The room consisted of a big bedroom, a bathroom with a bath and separate shower and a toilet. There was a separate room which led to the bathroom that had a wash basin, a fridge and a closet.
The hotel has two decent swimming pools with sunbeds. I stayed on a bed and breakfast base. The breakfast is served with a choice of toast, eggs, vegetables, rice and pancakes. They also have coffee, tea of a choice of two juices.
All in all I had a wonderful time in Swastika Bungalows.

A family run hotel that has been here in Sanur forever. Have stayed many times over many years through many iterations and I just really like it. It's not fancy but it represents good, solid value with genuinely nice staff.

I had room 36- a renovated standard a/c, my review is based on that class of room. I emailed ahead and got a good discounted rate. They also have basic fan cooled or deluxe on offer. I am sure that if you were unhappy with your room you could look at other options without any fuss.

Upstairs with a neighbouring room, you share a verandah space but the angling of the rooms/building ensures privacy- you also each have your own staircase. My view was over the small (oldest) pool with lots of trees. Adequate size verandah- very clean with new furniture and good lighting. Really pleasant to sit out on and read or whatever.

The room has a fridge, kettle, 2 bottles of water, tea/coffee, cups and glasses. All internal furniture is brand new light wood and in very good condition. I had a king bed, there are 2 bedside cupboards, telephone, 2 power points behind the cupboards, a long table with a drawer which the tv sits on. TV has multiple channels- good range and reception. Great lighting with lamps and overhead lights. There's also one of those plug in mossie repellent devices. I didn't have any problems with bugs. Awesome aircon. WIFI signal in my room was fair.

A lockable door leads through to the bathroom/toilet. Large, deep bath, open air shower, toilet, vanity with bench top basin, hairdryer, soaps and good mirror above sink. All really, really clean and without chips or cracks. There is a 2 door wardrobe with locks/keys, so decent storage space. Good lighting. Excellent standard of fit out and really clean. You also have a clotheshorse on the verandah which I moved into the bathroom- because it's semi open air the clothes dried well in the sun and breeze.

Linen- bottom sheet and a doona with cover, 3 pillows- all linen and towels were a bit greyish but clean and fresh smelling. Big pool towels.

Traditional, the gardeners do a fantastic job. Lots of old, established trees. Some of the footpaths are quite slippery after the rains- you really need to watch where/how you step.

There are 3; The old small one has a bar and lots of seats plus 2 umbrellas. The old middle one is super clean, has lots of lounge chairs and was really well utilised There's a decent amount of shade under the trees or full sun if you prefer. Lastly there is the large new pool which I didn't use this visit. It's great- very clean, lots of lounges, decent amount of shade with trees but only 2 umbrellas. There's a swim up bar and food available there too. It was quite busy here.

Breakfast was included in the coffee shop (was the garage) while the upstairs area is being renovated. There is also the option of outside ground level seating by the pool- awesome option. It had pretty much everything you might want and was topped up regularly. They had black rice with coconut cream available most mornings (yay) as well as pancakes, noodles, rice, eggs any way, meats, toast, pastries and fruit. The fruit was superb this year- mango, dragon fruit, pineapple, melon, papaya, watermelon- excellent selection!!! Coffee, tea, water on tap too. For what you pay for a room this is a really good inclusion.

Always friendly. Everyone that I encountered without fail were lovely. No issues at all. Bonus event this year was a staff sports competition - 3 afternoons of volleyball, table tennis and aerobics. Guests were very welcome and everyone received a snack box and bottle of water, the staff had a great time. Well done Swastika management- they do a nice job creating the "family" ethos.
Checkout was fast and easy - cash or card.

Comprehensive list of services on offer. I had a hot stone massage (200 000 Rp for 1.5 hr massage) which I enjoyed very much. A traditional massage is Rp 100 000 for 1 hour. The actual rooms could do with a renovation - they still look very tired. The spa is being relocated to a room this week as the coffee shop renovations are noisy. Not sure if that will be a better space, I hope so as they provide a great service. My parents both get haircuts there when they are staying and think they are very good, I didn't have enough time to try any of the other services unfortunately.

Included in price and was reliable in many locations during my stay. Stronger signal in room 32 than 36.

Perfect. Central to everything- other restaurants and cafes, shops, Hardy's, the beach.....

In summary- it was just fantastic. Highly recommended.

(** I really like room 32, but 36 was also good)
