This is our 5th year staying at Sri Phala. The staff are amazing, friendly and so helpful. Our two storey villa is awesome and the children have upstairs to themselves, makes for a fantastic, restful holiday for all of us. The two pools are amazing and the restaurant is safe and yummy food. This is our second home away from NZ. We can’t wait to go back again.

Just spent a week at this wonderful hotel. Reasonably clean spacious room. Decent food. Fantastic staff. Nice location near the beach and tours and a few restaurants. No complaints and certainly coming back.
I mainly chose the place for its proximity to the Thai consulate. However, that is still a good 25 minute sweaty walk. Happy to do it but be advised. Distances are great around there :)

We are very happy with our stay here. Beautiful surroundings, nice pool, friendly staff and comfortable, clean room. We stayed here with a small child which was no problem. Good location, close to the beach and a bunch of restaurants. Close to boat transports to Nusa lembongan. Would definitely stay here again.

The setting is quite lovely with two pools on the site and very friendly service staff. The rooms are spacious with touches of local culture, a small refrigerator, hot water, in room tea/coffee maker, and working TV (wit English language movie channel).

The one thing missing that some visitors may desire is beachfront access, but the beach is a short walk away from this quality resort.

This has to be one of the most bizarre places I’ve ever stayed. Luckily we’re just a couple of travellers waiting for the bad sea weather to calm down so we can jet off to Gili/Nusa Penida, but it seems like families actually come here for their holiday!

Our first impression of the place was nothing short of atrocious. The front entrance is right on the main road and looks completely derelict. When we shown to our (first) room, it both looked and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned or lived in for months. There were bugs all over the dirty-looking bath tub; piles of dust in every corner; the smell of damp/mould was pungent. The initial cleaning operation in this room got underway, and the nice gentleman actually managed to pull a cup full of grime from the plugholes, apologising as he did so for the state of the room and explaining that they don’t have enough time to clean properly. Clearly a valiant cleaning effort wouldn’t have sufficed for this room!

When we got back to reception to complain, the girl on reception couldn’t really help us because there was no manager in. She got him on the phone, and this is where the fun began. What a piece of work this guy is. He seemed to take great pleasure in telling us that because we booked online we couldn’t get a refund, laughing as he said so. A heated conversation ensued until he clearly got fed up and decided to hang up. Charming.

Having initially been told there were no other bedrooms available, the staff on duty then miraculously managed to find another bedroom, but they physically couldn’t open the bathroom door. After breaking and replacing the lock, an army of helpful cleaners got to work and made it into a liveable environment. Still, it wasn’t ideal - stains everywhere, a bit of dust still, a lingering smell. Nevertheless, so much thanks to them, I feel so sorry for them having to work under a manager like him, they didn’t even have proper cleaning equipment but rather homemade dusters made of old pool towels. Overworked, understaffed, ill-equipped!

Breakfast, I’m afraid, is absolutely revolting. I could only stomach the toast and omelettes. All the noodle/rice/meat dishes either look or taste funky. Some of the vegetable dishes are okay, but mostly oily or bitter! Glasses are dirty so watch out before you guzzle your juice! We ended up buying our own provisions instead, passing on the included breakfast each day!

The advertisement of ‘2 outdoor pools’ is misleading. One looks like some sort of fountain water feature. The other is quite nice but only has a few sunbeds so was completely full at times. The advertisement of ‘outdoor tennis court’ is just completely false - when we asked at reception where it was, the poor lady looked so confused! Housekeeping is very slapdash - sometimes towels and water would not get replaced, resulting in further trips to reception.

It’s quite expensive for such a dirty environment and to be confronted with zero desire to help us out. The manager couldn’t care less, now that he has our money. It really leaves a sour taste in your mouth [and a sour smell on your clothes]. It is by no means the worst place we have stayed on our travels with a spacious room and balcony overlooking one of the pool areas - but we are backpacking and this was meant to be a little upgrade from hostels. How people come here and put up with it for their holiday is beyond me!
