“Great First Trip To Bali”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

My husband and I went on our first holiday to Bali. We enjoyed 5 nights at the Besakih Beach Resort in Sanur and were very happy staying there. We loved Sanur as it was very quiet and none of the rush and pressure of Kuta which was exactly what we were hoping for. The grounds were kept immaculately and the ground staff should be congratulated on how clean and well presented they were. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was a standard room - basic but definately acceptable. The room was spacious enough, extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated and probably in need of a revamp but thoroughly clean which was all that mattered. The breakfast was just ok and for this reason we didn't eat at the restaurant any other time. But there is a restaurant called The Village just down the road which is sensational and we ate there almost every night. One bit of advice, if you're going to do the white water rafting don't book through the hotel who one of the staff members "knows someone who is a bit cheaper" . Although it was a pleasant day with a really nice driver and people doing to rafting, it wasn't very long and along a fairly calm bit of the river.
My husband and I are in our mid and late 40's and we would have been some of the youngest guest staying at the hotel. There were many many senior dutch people who come over for 3 months at a time. Whilst this didn't bother us in the least, if you were young people looking to mix and mingle this property probably wouldn't suit you for that reason. All in all we were very happy staying here. Would probably book a bungalow next time as they looked beautiful.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room with a balcony which was lovely.

We always chose to stay in Sanur and as such have stayed in few of the hotels. The major draw card of this hotel is the infinity pool overlooking the ocean and cycle way.

For our accommodation we chose the bungalow and although it was dark and tired looking and could do with a spruce up, it was exceptionally clean and we felt that it met our expectations. The grounds are kept immaculate and are a delight to wander through. Our friends stayed in a standard room and also had no complaints.

Ground staff and housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful unfortunately the same could not be said for the restaurant staff who were extremely rude and unhelpful. It got to the stage, and we saw others doing the same, hence why we followed suit, to go and get our own knives and forks out of the bureau and to serve our own tea and coffee. Many mornings we would also have to go up to the staff and break up their chinwag and ask if it would be possible to order our eggs. We had no complaints with the food itself.

Overall we would stay again, as value for money this hotel is excellent, however we would take a wander down the street each morning for breakfast or perhaps return to Paneeda View which unfortunately had no rooms available this time round.

This is not our first time here, we love Sanur, the absolute beach frontage of this hotel, clean rooms although the bathrooms are fairly tired but still ok, markets a few minutes walk away, main street with great selections of shops, restuarants and Hardy's supermarket. The infinity pool is gorgeous with an amazing swim up bar! The housekeeping staff always have a smile on their face which unfortunately cant be said for some of the restuarant staff! The men in particular are old and grumpy and need to hang up their aprons! The women apart from the more senior manager are fine. The food is average but that doesn't really matter as the breakfast is fine and there is an abundance of great beach front restuarants to choose from anyway.
We always seem to meet great new friends around the poolside, mostly Australians, Besakih is great for kids..even though it's not perfect it's hard to find a better beachfront hotel in Sanur.

stayed here for a week in February.
room was clean
staff were nice.
pools are nice and offer shade between the 2 pools most of the day
breakfast is very basic, i had no problem with it, but if you were not happy with it you could step out onto the street and buy what you want just down the road.
very nice setting.
the bed was hard, but became quite comfortable after a few cold bintangs.
