This site is a must see for those that love nature at its best. The challenge is getting there! I travelled from Rishikesh where in August which is during the wet season and it was hard to find a tour to get there so decided to go myself and got a taxi to GovindGhat just north of Joshimath. After leaving at 5:00 am and several landslides later that stopped all traffic for some time I arrived around 6:00pm and stayed a hotel next to the bridge. Next morning I walked up the steep hill to Gangaria arriving just before 12:00 to learn the park entrance closed at midday so kept going and just made it in time. The walk into the valley is very steep in sections but about 90 minutes later I was in a sea of pink white and purple flowers - heaven on earth! The pass for foreigners is around 600 rupees but good for two days so if you have the time come back the next day and take it easy. Lots of hotels so you don't need to take too much - wet weather gear and plenty of water are essential at this time of year. Plenty of tea houses along the route to keep you fed and many Seiks heading to nearby Hempkund to keep you company.
