We stayed 2 nights at a room with Ganga view. The sunrise is amazing, but be prepared that it can be really noisy. The only setback was that since the last year the room prices doubled. The restaurant has a nice view but service and food is not the strong side of Ganpati. Ask for pickup, its not easy to find!

We (2 'oldies') stayed at Ganpati for 4nights; the staff were helpful, courteous and smiling; our room was very clean; the meals are good; the guesthouse location is excellent and the view from the terrace is outstanding.
Unfortunately our room had no balcony/view or window and we had the smells and noise that emanate from the lane, so we would recommend trying to get a room that opens onto the river.
We arrived by private car/driver and hadnt prearranged a guide to walk us thru the myriad of lanes that lead to Ganpatti (no vehicle access); there are plenty of touts that are only too keen to help out but it might relieve stress levels if a guide is arranged; trying to find Ganpati by oneself can be very daunting.
Wandering around the lanes was interesting and fun altho be prepared for crowded lanes that are very smelly and noisy and where touts continually barage tourists. Don't be put off tho....Varanasi is an amazing experience and we would recommend a stay at Ganpatti.

I came here under the suggestion of a couple I met. They told me that Ganpati was a great place and so I decided to come here and they were right. I was able to get a room almost immediately without a reservation. Everything about this place is great!!!

It has a great location, so the rooms have a nice view over the Ganges. But even if you have an inside room (wich are also very nice as they face to a beatiful and peaceful courtyard) there is a great terrace in the top where you can also enjoy the views, while having a nice meal or a drink. The staff is very friendly, the place is quiet and the rooms are very clean, so you can feel at home after a hard day walking around varanasi.

My friend and I, two ladies in our sixties are doing our 'gap year'; forty years too late, and a month at a time. This was part of the great Indian train adventure, on a Railpass.
The guest house was very pretty,a bit hippyish, and we had a light airy room, with a balcony round it.
The rooftop restaurant had a brilliant view of the Ghats and the Ganges, and also served a good selection of food. It was a few minutes walk to the Nepalese temple, and the most interesting of the ghats, as well as a bazaar. It was peaceful, with a cool courtyard sitting area, and it was away from the crowded main streets, which were manic
.It was Dussehra when we arrived,so the transport they sent couldn't get to the hotel due to road closure,so we had a substantial walk through crowds and carts, but that wasn't their fault.
The hotel staff were pleasant and helpful, and arranged for us to go out on a boat one evening to watch a religious ceremony taking place on the ghats.
The guest house is clean, and safe, and has a lovely 'uncle' on the door, by way of security. The prices are great too. To top it all, the owner/manager was not unlike Johnny Depp, with his glasses on. How could we not like this guesthouse?!

Room Tip: Definitely one with a Ganges view!!!!!
