This is the oldest ghat in Varanasi and the holiest for all Hindus. The recent cleaning process has brought some orderliness to this ghat. But it remains crowded with people and stray cattle.
The most important thing is to watch the evening Ganga aarathi. It is best watched from a boat.

Overwhelming sense of peace and joy to experience the evening prayer ceremony and the musical performances as part of worshipping Ganges as mother. This ghat is the place to feel the harmony in the chaos.

Dashashwamedh ghat is one of the oldest, most spectacular and important ghat, located at the bank of the river Ganga near to the old Vishwanath Temple in the Kashi/Varanasi. The literal meaning of the Dashashwamedh is the Ghat (river front) of the ten sacrificed horses (dash means 10, ashwa means horse, medh means sacrifice).
Dashashwamedh ghat is famous for great event named Gange Aarti at each evening after sunset. Thousands of earthen lamps are immersed in the Gange water as a floating lamp which looks awesome and seems a great religious ritual of the Hindu devotees.

The sunset ceremony is a must see attractive while in Varanasi. We watched from the Ghat and sat on the steps but I think the views from the river would have been better and been worth the 100 INR for a boat seating position.
