Description: Brown Bread Bakery and Organic Food P.Ltd is the very first organic bakery with restaurant in India with branches in Varanasi and Delhi. Since 2015 we started also a Vegan restaurant Varanasi. The company supports the projects of Learn for Life by using the profits for funding the school and to provide fair working conditions for all the staff. We use as many organic ingredients as possible for our products. All our bakery items are made from different kinds of organic grains which are always grinded freshly. The grains, the rice and the lentils are produced by certified small farmers which we visit and check regularly.

If I was back in England this would probably only get an average but here in Varanasi it surpasses the other places we've tried for having fresh food & friendly staff. Plus a lovely rooftop that is a welcome escape. The only downside is its a little pricey compared to others but I would recommend you try this place for sure.

It's one of the better restaurants around Dashashvamedh Ghat. The food is pretty good. and I appreciate their efforts to provide some organic food. What I don't like is that even though they have two indoor spaces besides their rooftop cafe, none is reserved for non-smokers. As I find that having someone sitting next to me smoking spoils the taste of the food, this is a big issue for me. Otherwise, I might have rated it a little higher.

You will find all tourists here, but it is nice to be able to eat fruits and veggies and not worry. The place has good food, but the service is a little messy. Be sure you go to the right one as there is a fake one across the street!

the food was great. Lot's of very good multi cuisine. don't get the breakfast buffet. It was rather stingy with the eggs and all the sides came separately. the egg first, 5 mins later the suasage, 5 mins later the beans, then the hash browns. Which aren't really hash browns but coked potatoes. The roof top is beautiful, with full monkey protection. enjoy the vege burger.

you see, there are TWO brown bread bakeries, almost directly across the alley from one another. one of them has a light brown sign above and a red doorway entrance...it is on the left side as you're going downhill in the alley. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO.

the other brown bread bakery (black sign, right side as you face downhill) is the mangy smells-like-poop version. DO NOT GO THERE! (unless, of course, you like bathroom smells)

anyway, the good version of the place has three distinct seating areas in which to dine. the first you'll encounter is a rather dark, echoey room with tables. good for those cold nights when your sciatic nerve is acting up.

the 2nd room is a mattress-covered, low tabled chill out room that has live music every night at 7:30 (great tabla player, decent sitar player)

the final area is the rooftop, with great views of other decaying concrete and brick buildings. they somehow succeeded in making the cage (to keep out the monkeys) that surrounds and covers the rooftop appear somewhat tasteful, although one feels a bit like the latest attraction at a zoo, as in a bit of role reversal the monkeys will just sit and watch you eat and talk.

the food is among the most hygienic i've come across in the old city (but i still wouldn't look over-long at the kitchen itself) and is pretty good.
the prices, however, are pretty high for anyone used to eating at most indian-patronized restaurants.
in short, great vibe, very clean, good food, decent if a bit absent-minded service.
chow down. oh and it has FREE, PRETTY FAST WIFI. yeehaw.
