“Quaint, quirky and basic with charming staff ”

This is a typical home stay. Friendly staff who greet you on arrival. A basic room which is reasonably clean. Bed linen.. suspicious. Don't try a shower at 9.00 p.m. As there isn't any hot water. There was the following morning.
The room was a good size, but a bit noisy. We could hear next door coughing and the WC flushing.
THe call to prayer by the muezzin was an unwelcome sound, as was the staff getting breakfast ready in the kitchen.
Breakfast was simple but ample. Glad we only stayed one night, even though it was not and unpleasant stay.
Very good location for access to the Taj Mahal and other eateries.
Don't know the prices as I came with a tour, but would guess budget prices, which would be ok. Definitely not mid range.

We stayed here as part of a 4 weeks holiday in India. It was the one of best hotels and possibly the best experience. We arrived hot and dusty to the beautiful garden with plenty of comfortable seats to sit in. We went to the kitchen and the kind chef made us salad sandwiches and a glass of wine that was delicious fresh and greatly appreciated.
The whole experience was a treat. The beds are not the most comfortable I've ever slept on but the room was clean and cool and the shower was one of the few in India with hot water aplenty !
We ate a wonderful dinner and an even better late breakfast after we had been up at 6 for the Taj Mahal visit which is about a 10 minute walk away.
The ambience of this hotel is relaxed , friendly and communal. I'm guessing those that have written poor reviews are used to corporate venues with faceless management. We met the owner and she was delightful and passionate about her home and the homestay . I'm guessing if you aren't a relaxed traveller you won't appreciate the karma !

I am puzzled by the other reviews on this location. Yes, it is within walking distance of the Taj Mahal. And that probably is the only thing going for it. Every other place we stayed was excellent so I am not a serial complainer, so here goes. The room was dirty. Towels were not clean and we were suspicious of the sheets on the bed. We spoke to others who had the same view and made the same decision as we did. Not to use the shower (only there one night) and wait until we got to the next location. There are many choices in Agra this should not be one of them

Behind a gate in a noisy dusty back street we found the most wonderful peaceful home stay. The Taj Mahal was to be our first stop after leaving Delhi and we were taken aback by the blast of colour awaiting us as we stepped inside the property - colour from the beautiful garden, in full flower bloom, the sound of birds and the brightly painted walls and furniture. It was such a treat to sit in the garden with a beer and a sandwich made for us by the owner. Don't expect luxury but trade instead style, really welcoming hosts and great food within walking distance of the main attraction. The terraces and verandas offered lots of sitting options and an opportunity to meet and talk to fellow travellers. All very relaxed and I just remember feeling really happy. There are two reasons to visit Agra - The Taj and Coral Tree home stay

Room Tip: The rooms are all individual and clean. Hot water is limited but enough and a minor issue when you...

The Coral Tree Homestay is a great value for money. It's walking distance from the Taj Mahal, is clean, safe and beautiful. The owners have spent a lot of time and energy in making it a beautiful place full of colour and flowers.

However, would like to give a small feedback to the owners. Please ensure to let your guests know what to do / whom to approach in case you need some basic stuff at night. For instance, we came back at about 11 pm from Agra city and needed mosquito repellant and water (there is no room service etc., it being a homestay) and we didn't deem it fit to disturb the owners at night. If you make it a part of your process to let the guests know about essential things at the time of check-in, it will be helpful. Thanks !
