Last December, I had a memorable trip to the Taj Mahal in Agra. Thanks to the tour guide, who has entertained my group with the interesting love story of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved Mumtaz Mahal. Their romance stands before us in the form of the marvelous TajMahal. A salute to Mughal love..

This is a "don't miss attraction" if you are in India. It is quite impressive in size. I learned a lot about the Mughal architcture from our tour guide.

I have read reviews, looked at pictures but being there is a totally DIFFERENT! It is Magnificent... such symmetrical beauty standing there in front of me, it is BEAUTIFUL! Once there, you can look at it and really feel the love the King had for his Queen and you really wished that you were with your the other half...

I have been to the Taj Mahal during a business trip to India (03-2010). As thie Taj is a must-see place being to India we took the long trip there to visit.
The trip to Agra (the city the Taj is located) was the worst part of that trip (and the longest).
Coming from Delhi (approx. 180 km) it takes more than 4 hrs to got there by car as the indian road conditions and the driving behaviour is "special".
So with 2-3 hrs at the Taj Mahal and visiting the Red Fort (see below) plus the drive from/to Delhi the full day is needed and you are happy to rest at your hotel afterwards ;-)
Avoid hot season April-June, as temperatures can easily reach 45°C during the day --> no fun anymore.

You should also plan to visit the red fort in Agra (2 km) as it is also worth going there (historic building, elephants....

Visiting to see the taj mahal was a long awaited trip, for us both
It was not hard to organise this trip ourselves. A train from Corbett to Delhi, and another from Delhi to Agra Cantt, a short taxi ride, and we were there
We arrived bright and early, but already the warm of the sun was starting to melt us and it was yet to reach 9.00am.

Having always pictured the Taj as a beautiful building in a beautiful location, I admit to being a little unhappy to the surrounds that first greeted us.

The Taj was beautiful, and the work that had gone into it was just so breath taking amazing.
The small details that never before were apparent from photos, and never realized , until explained by a guide, were just stunning.
The architecture was far more complex than ever to be imaginable, and the beautiful inlay of the semi precious stones into the white marble, exquisite. The story that accompanies the Taj Mahal is just as beautiful.

Words cannot describe nearly so much as a visit. Highly recommend this trip if visiting India.
Only taking few short hours to get there from Delhi, it was worth every minute.
We were both blown away with the beauty, history, and the romance of the Taj Mahal.

We spent the next 7 days in Goa, mainly on the beach, and the little details our guide had told us of the Taj kept coming up in our conversations.
