The impression from afar was absolutely breathtaking and certsi ly a must do in Agra. A few things do let it down close up sadly. There is a lot of litter as there is all over India but with it being such an important site it would be good to clear the plastic bothles, dog and monkey poo and the discarded shoe covers from the gardens.
The actual mausoleum is small and takes around 10 mins max to go around. Most people spend time in the gardens but all the people and litter to detract from the splendour and serenity.
As it is so hyped and is a wonder of the world I was a little disappointed and a few minor things eould make a huge difference.

We visited India for the first time and did the golden triangle tour. In Agra visiting Taj Mahal, we found a fantastic guide and cannot recommend him high enough. His name is Happy of J2s Private tour (find his contact details via trip advisor), be sure to contact him if you are visiting the Taj, you won't be disappointed, he made our visit even more memorable, from helping us get through the long line at the Taj, to taking some great photos, to telling some great stories about the building itself. We were taken to a great restaurant for lunch. Everything was taken care of, you can't beat local knowledge! All for a very reasonable price!

This monument has to be visited but do not expect to have a one-on-one experience. There will be another 5000 people around so not easy to take good photos.

We found The Taj Mahal stunning. The building is stunning from all aspects and the story behind the building, only adds to the charm.
