nothing can prepare you as you make your way to the taj.it is kept hidden by the domes as you enter the garden itself and get your first glimpse it will astound.the coulours actualy do change and vary the nearer you get to it.it realy does leave a lump in your throat.when you go up the steps and stand on the marble you are amazed at detail that went in2 place.it realy is the ultamate monument of love and each individual will get a different experiance out of it.ther are down sides like people pushing and shuving to get on the dianna bench but that is commertialism nowadays.the gardens here are a must.the place is kinda like a grave yard in it seems so distant and away from the outside world.i think taj is a must see for every one.enjoy it while you can and bear in mind it is shut on fridays

When I first saw the Taj Mahal 10 years ago, my breath was taken away. It was so beautiful, magnificent - and really captured India's history. Now, however, I feel as though India is somewhat ashamed of that history. As I understand it, an oil refinery has been set up not too many miles away. The atmosphere must therefore contain chemicals which can damage the beauty of the Taj Mahal. A structure that has lasted for centuries because of its amazing crafting is now slowly turning brown. I know what I saw; it did not have the same unique colour to it when I visited last month - there were bits of brown all over, and it didn't have that spectacular glow. Emperor Shah Jahan made the Taj Mahal especially to enclose his wife's tomb, which is special within itself. But it is now losing its characteristic qualities, and within 100 years may be forgotten whilst India tries to promote other jewels within its land. I find it heartbreaking.

As i live here in agra,i know better than what people think about it.. Taj mahal experience would not have been very excellent for some people (due to the hawkers)but agra is not at all terrible, dingy and dirty. if u really want to see the true agra and feel the pleasure of staying here then go and visit the hotels all around the city like The Mughal ITC,Clark Shiraz etc.want to shop then sadar, sanjay place is a must visit. Its really terrible to visit Taj mahal in summers as it is very hot here. The best time to visit is after mid of october.
