“Oasis of calm and comfort in busy Agra”
Reviewed 23 April 2012

We stayed at the Wyndham Grand, Agra on April 11th as part of a 6-day tour of Rajasthan and he 'Golden Triangle'. We had prearranged and early check-in and were able to get to our room shortly after we arrived at 8am. Check-in was efficient and fast. Our room on the ground floor was spacious and clean. The free and unlimited WiFi in the hotel was especially valued and is an excellent inclusion.

Breakfast was amazing and the staff were flexible enough to set a dinner table for us on the rooftop patio adjacent to the restaurant so we could enjoy dinner outside.

The grounds and pool are very well maintained, with drinks and snacks available at the swim-up bar.

The hotel and its facilities are excellent, it's a very pretty hotel with amazing architecture, our rooms were in a private courtyard which felt very safe and it was surrounded by the most fantastic show of fragrant flowers. The rooms were first class, larger than the average with seating and tables. The beds were comfy and towels, bathrobes, soap etc all provided. Food was first rate and the staff in the restaurants were polite and friendly. The pool is clean and very well looked after and again the staff there were great. Wish we could have stayed another night but the hotel was full but you would never have known it as the hotel and it's fabulous gardens give a feeling of space and light. The only downside for me was that the reception staff were a bit cold and unfriendly - but perhaps it was just a bad day as all the other staff we met were just fine. Highly recommend a visit to this hotel.

Stayed here for one night on a short trip to India. The hotel was nice and clean, the rooms are very spacious. The food there was great and tasted very fresh, we had a really great dinner. Breakfast was a buffet and was also good. All of the hotel staff were very nice. Great location and close to all the sites. Overall a good hotel and I would reccomned it for anyone visiting Agra and looking for a nice place.

We stayed here only for one night end of March 2012. We had actually booked at the Radisson a few houses down but they messed up our booking and shipped us over. At first we weren't excited about being brought to another hotel, but clearly this is one has the wow factor on arrival, a beautiful property in an otherwise run down and neglected city. The level of detail in the construction gives it a very grand and royal feel. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and arranged around courtyards with a very intimate feeling. I have to agree with the other travellers, the service and food were not on par with the ambiance. For us that wasn't a big issue, simply because we stayed there only for one night. We enjoyed the views, the garden and the grand feel and before the service levels could bother us we already left. It seems to be a fairly new hotel, maybe a couple of years old and I have a feeling it might simply need time paired with constant reminders that it has a long way to go. The staff are probably all local and looking at the rest of Agra, which was by far the worst city we visited in India, that explains a lot. I do think they are trying though. I found considerably more disturbing their racial discrimination. We arrived as in two couples, of which 3 are German and one Indian. The lady at the reception asked very rudely "who that Indian guy was with" and apologised once I said that he was my husband... Not something you'd expect in an establishment like this. Overall for one night only, I would recommend the place, also because there are no other alternatives in Agra....

Room Tip: Towards the back of the hotel is ongoing construction, do ask for a room that is closer to the main...
