Enroute to avalanche we stopped at emrald lake. the drive to the lake was beautiful. The drive to the lake was beautiful. We drove from ooty and the drive was mesmerising. The entire drive was green with every inch of land cultivated, green and people working on the farms. there was a lot of potato farming in that area and being hilly one could see step farming. The winding route, the beautiful weather all were an ideal combination. As we reached the lake we parked at the bank and walked down. Not a single soul seemed to know of this lake and we sat on the bank admiring the green colour of the lake. No wonder it is called 'emrald' lake. The road to the lake was a slight detour from a village and there were no directions or signs so we asked around. The road from this detour is motorable but narrow , steep at points and not very good . However the views of villages and farms below are extremely beautiful. We are nature lovers so we loved it. However if you go with kids remember there is no shop ther for anything-it is very nontouristy carry your food with you. Great for photos
