When a person from USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Singapore comes to Meenakshi Amman, why not a Tamilian.

“Don't visit in Summer”
Reviewed 4 July 2012

We need to remove the chapels. The floor was so hot and we got our feet burnt. There is no shade or roof to protect sun we had to run back to the gate without seeing the temple. Probably one has to visit early in the mornings to avoid such inconvenience.

“A temple of dravid architecture”
Reviewed 4 July 2012

It's one of thye most beautiful temple I have ever seen. The outside was so come which gave me an impression why this is rated so how where there is no crowd? But when entered inside, thanks to their management I saw a huge visitors standing in queues. We mistook Sundareswar as Meenaxi first and was almost came out of the temple after having the darshan, but realized that Meenaxi amman is still there. The thousand pillars are extreme display of art and science through the eye of Architecture. The only thing is the ticket price which is very reasonable I like to mention. We found new Meenaxi-sundareswars are getting tied their knot in that premises, which gave us a chance of viewing the traditional temple marriage customs in South.

“Meenakshi Temple : 3000 year old heritage”
Reviewed 3 July 2012

We Entered the temple from North Gate. When we entered there was a stunning view of temple SHIKHAR (tip) and an BIG ASIAN ELEPHANT in the courtyard. The surrounding are neat and clean, also footwear are not allowed inside the temple area. Provided is the free footwear stand, make use o it. there were pooja's and other offerings goining on in one of the madapams. The Main temple is of MEENAKSHI(PARVATI) and the other temple is of LORD SHIVA. But one thing to be noted only INDIANS are allowed into the main area temples where the holy idol can be seen and worshiped. All in all a must visit.
