“Excellent Resort..!!”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Tamara is a lovely resort with good scenic beauties around it. Surrounded by ghats and water form siruvani gives a pleasant view in the morning time. Good time to visit is between November and February. I went with my family there to stay for 2 nights and 3 days. Stayed in the tented accommodation. It was really a nice experience. The tents are located just in front of the water front which gives a very pleasant views all the day. It was big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids. From there you can visit valparai which is around 130KM (one way). The resort will help on availing cabs at cheaper prices. Another important thing to mention is the staff support. staffs are excellent and they really helped in whatever possible ways they can. This resort is just 8KMs from the ISHA foundation, which is another plus point.

One thing i would like to mention here is about the food prices. Food quality is good but it is little bit on the expensive side.

Overall this is an excellent place to stay and relax with family/friends. I would definitely visit this place once again probably during the winter time (Nov to Feb). Thanks to staff support.

Regards,
Sathish

Good atmosphere, calm and quiet premises, natural beauty, well maintained lawn,
courteous staffs, all together we had a superb experience.
Unfortunately we had only one night stay. hope we shall visit again and share the experience with our friends and relatives. Hats off to the management and staffs of "Tamara"

Room Tip: Room 7 & 8 feels better as their is a wide lawn and it is nearer to restaurant.

you might love this place at first sight! the location of this resort was quite surprising for me as i was amazed to find tranquility within a short drive from the city.....their gardens are very beautiful!!.... picturesque landscapes of the western ghats...... the resort is built in a serene location on the banks of a small lake.... the area is small but it is well planned. the resort is pretty much close to major tourist spots in Coimbatore....... personally hats off to their gardening and house-keeping... the tented accommodation is innovative but this one is too large for couples.... and it is pretty much noisy when you have neighbors around..... overall aesthetics is nice.... the food part im not very happy .... was of above average taste ... .... it really needs some improvement there..... however the staffs hospitality and their services was excellent... when it comes to the 'value for money' i would say it is pretty expensive ..... spa's can be an added plus to the resort.... but overall it is a nice place to stay!!! (P.S. thanks for the wedding cake... it was really a surprise )

Room Tip: each tent has 2 large beds on opposite sides.... better choose the side which is not close to the A...

Tamara resort comprises of 8 tents on the bank of a river in the foothilss of the western Ghats. Its location is tranquil but defintely off the beaten track which makes it a destination resort in itself rather than somehwere to stay en route to somewhere. We had 1 night there so it may be that we were unlucky in our experience and this review should be seen in that context.

The tents are fine - 2 large beds so presumably aimed at families with curtains to give added privacy. There is tea and coffee availbale in the room and bottles of purified water. The bathrooms are small but clean and functional with plenty of hot water. They are, however, dark and over hot. The air condtioningis effective but noisy/

My main comments focus on 2 areas. This is billed as a resort for relaxation but ther ewas absolutley no where comfortable to sit. I scoured the site for a hammock, a sofa, a sun lounger, a bucket chair but noe were to be found. The chair of the tent decking were the collapsable slatted type which reminded me of my methodist sunday school! This could be easily and cheaply remedied .

The 2nd area of concern is the management of the restaurant and its ambivalent policy on alcohol. I have been unbale to find any mention on the website as to whether or not alcohol is served. We a rrived after a 5 hour hot and dusty journey and asked for a beer. They had none but said they could get us some for that night. That night we were the only couple in the restaurant but when we asked for our beers we were told it was 'not their policy to serve beer in the restaurant (Evening meals are ordered in advance and can be served in the tent). As this had not been mentioned before were were taken aback - although on querying this it was rescinded and we were served - but eating and drinking on your own with 4 staff hovering at every move is not a good experience. We agreed breakfast for 8am but when we arrived at 8.10 the restaurant was still locked! It began to make fawlty towers look postivley inviting. Eventually we were served some eggs and chopped apple. Breakfast aside the food was good.

Sllep was disturbed by the chatting of the security guards until the early hours

Tamara resort has loads of potential but needs a clearer focus as to its target market. For many travellers like ourselves 2 beds are an unecessary use of space though obviously good for families. If it is plannning to expand into the western tour market then it needs a much firmer management line regarding the restaurant and to be much clearer on its alcohol policy. Seating needs to be given much more attention.

Dear Guest,

I am extremely distressed that you have been inconvenienced during your recent stay with us. Your feedback is valuable and will assist us in improving our operations further.

I have shared the feedback on the uncomfortable furniture to relax in front of the tents. I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and we are pleased to inform you that further to your suggestion the management decided to provide seating arrangements in the lawn in front of tents with umbrella and we also started to provide easy chairs on request to all our guest rooms in order to improve the comfort level.

I have also noted your feedback on the ambivalent policy on alcohol. As we do not have the license to serve any alcoholic drink in the premise we are forced to deny the request for alcoholic beverages. The hotel Management policy is clear on this there is no alcoholic drink to be served in the premises, the resident guest can carry their drink and have it only in the room.

I do hope you will give us another opportunity to showcase our services and that you will not allow this incident to mar your impression of the hotel. I thank you for sparing time to post your review on Trip Advisor and look forward to welcoming you back.

Thanks and regards

Wondering where to find tranquillity, we eventually homed in on Tamara resorts. On our arrival to the place, we were stunned by the inexplicable beauty of Tamara with the water from Sirvani running adjacent to the resort. The magnificent layers of mountains add grandiose to Tamara’s scenic elegance. This is the place to stretch out and relax. The Tamara crew were warm and welcoming. We were 15 of us and Binu Thankachan and his colleagues took good care of us. In fact, they planned our itinerary for the day. They took us to Sirvani in the morning and after frolicking around, we returned to Tamara for a simple but delicious lunch. Later we got to play cricket and other indoor games. The grass felt like velvet under our feet. We followed that by fishing in the lake that looked more welcoming than ever. It was really fun but none of us got lucky that day. To sum up, Tamara is truly a place to relax with family and friends.
