The place is about 60km away from Trivandrum. It's somewhat a remote area but Google maps will get the job done! There's actually a uphill hike of about 1km but a guarantee you, it's worth it. It's stone paved and has stone benches to take rest if you need some. The view from the top is superb! Theres a pond at the top which cools you down. The temple itself is closed now,but you sure can take a peek inside! It's so calm that you will not be thinking about going back! But theres almost no shops or any other facilities up the hill, so make sure you carry some water to prevent dehydration from the scorching Sun. There a shop at the start of the hike where you can get water or other soft drinks from. And don't forget your DSLRs too, it's too beautiful!

I had an amazing opportunity to ride to this place, and my main aim was to witness the divine and powerful Sunrise.
I started from Trivandrum at around 4am and reached the destination within 5.30am, which was an amazing ride, free from all the hustle and bustle of the usually crowded highway en route.
The Jain Temple is situated at the top most peak of the hill, and a flight of carved out rock stared path leads the way.
Sitting adjacent to the temple among the rocks and watching the sunrise, among the other hills gave a very robust feel. And the temple, left me marveled on its inscriptions and carved out drawings of Buddha.
In all aspects, this place is a must visit to, if you love and enjoy peaceful and meditative feel. The view of clouds crowding by and lazily floating can capture your breath away!

As a young and free-spirited traveller, you will love it. If nature and being inharmony with it is one of your top priorities as well.
~Cheers!

The Chitharal Jain Temple is located near Marthandam, at Thikkurissy Village en route to Kanyakumari. The place simply blows your mind with serenity. The temple is quite simple in architecture but has its own set of unique inscriptions (historians please note!). Photographers, and Selfie freaks are definitely gonna have a great time. The climb is definitely a buzzkill but totally worth it once you reach the top. Four stars only because I found no facility for drinking water.

It is a jain temple near Marthandam, Tamilnadu. Even though the temple is at the top of the hill, steps are paved so that any one can climb up with ease. The temple has rituals at morning, not sure about evening hours. There is a pond at the rock as well, which is a great surprise as you can see water even during summer.
