The Chitharal Jain Temple is located near Marthandam, at Thikkurissy Village en route to Kanyakumari. The place simply blows your mind with serenity. The temple is quite simple in architecture but has its own set of unique inscriptions (historians please note!). Photographers, and Selfie freaks are definitely gonna have a great time. The climb is definitely a buzzkill but totally worth it once you reach the top. Four stars only because I found no facility for drinking water.

It is a jain temple near Marthandam, Tamilnadu. Even though the temple is at the top of the hill, steps are paved so that any one can climb up with ease. The temple has rituals at morning, not sure about evening hours. There is a pond at the rock as well, which is a great surprise as you can see water even during summer.

Chitharal hill temple is located at Thikkurissy village near Marthandam,Kanyakumari. The temple and monuments are located at the hill top which can be quite easily reached after a hike of 10-15 minutes from the base. The path is well paved and preserved. The place is a must visit for those who loves nature, history and seclusion from the busy city life. The 9th BC monument is worth a visit. The temple and the surroundings, the view from the hill top are enthralling.Due to its remote location there is no rush at any time.

The nearest railway station is Kuzhithurai West, approx 5-6Kms from the the hillock(not to be confused with Kuzhithurai station just few kilometres away).Marthandam is the nearest major bus station.Auto rickshaws, buses are available towards the hillock, but a return arrangement must be done prior as the monument is located at the remote village where there is no bus service or auto/taxis.

Truly a hdden gem. Great location and very isolated and non touristy. Moderate trek to the top but the view is worth all the effort. And place filled with history and mystique. A must visit place if you are game for exploring the unexplored!
