Do visit - very ancient temple of the Rajput kings who ruled the region. Opens only at 10.30. cannot take wallets, phones etc - lockers are there to leave it. peaceful temple and looks really ancient - very rare Shiva Idol with 5 faces - which is unique.

The stark unspoiled beauty of these ancient temples takes you to a different era all together. The interesting intermingled complex of multiple temples is really worth a visit.
Great place for historians and art lovers

“wonderful walk in history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 December 2011

I found very positive vibs in the main temple. I could sit and meditate and no one questioned. The vishnu temple in the complex has lovely stone carvings.

I was a bit disappointed that access to the Ganesha and Godess temples are resticted to common public.

Its a good idea to have a guide with you as there is none avialble at the temple. Photgraphy is not allowed!

“Shiva temple that is serene, historical, and tourist friendly.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2011

Located some 40kms from Udaipur on the road to Nathdwara (a pilgrim town) and Devigarh Resort on the Sukher-NH8; this ancient Shiva temple (First built around 971 AD) by the then ruling family of Mewar is a nice stop over for paying reverence or just enjoying the architecture.

Not a very large complex, but thanks to the patronage of the ruling family; kept extremely clean, organized, secured and well managed. Except for a few important festival dates, the temple is never really too crowded and largely visited by local and foreign tourists. There are no touts to get you to the inner sanctum fast or hard sell of souveniers or temple offerings making it a nice place for foreign tourists to experience an Indian temple.
