The heritage haveli

Review of Madri Haveli
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Jul 2019
Vibrant colours juxtaposed with ancient Rajasthani haveli architecture, Madri haveli is a remarkable place to lodge in Udaipur. It's located closed to the railway station and major attractions of the city are in close proximity. Our room was spacious and well furnished, in keeping with the Heritage of the haveli. Breakfast in particular was memorable, with the breakfast table on the roof, giving a bird's eye view of the city and its attractions. Our caterer, Tufaan, was a particularly amiable fellow, who served us with alacrity. He always made the effort to cater our orders to our taste palatte, be it spicy or sweet. We ended up extending our stay by a day, in part due to the hospitality recieved by us, and other due to the quiet calm nature of Udaipur.
Would highly recommend.

Visited Madri haveli in Aug'18. The hospitality was amazing. The rooms we typically clean, decent in size and comfortable too. Felt safe in the premises. Restaurant and view on the terrace floor is very good. Food was good too.
Coming to my main Mr. Toofan Singh who's a great staff and a very good person took really good care of us.
A must stay if you like old and typical Rajasthani style of ambience.

Madri Haveli is for a all those who dream to stay in a old palace. Well maintained, perfect ambience and great food, though very less variety. Abhay at the front desk was very polite and a great host. Toofan Singh, the bartender at the hotel, was very kind and hospitable.
The only reason for a 4/5 is, the hotel is very inaccessible if you are travelling in your own vehicle. There is no hotel parking. Only govt. approved parking is available which looks very risky. Another reason being, the hotel has no view from the room. The rooftop view is great. Overall a great experience! Thank you!

Dear Guest,

We do have a parking but we closed it and only use for our e-ricksaw as the road are very small in the old city and and the approach by car is not easy.

As you mentioned there is public parking very near and we can send our electric ricksaw to pick you.
Best regards,
César Chuffart

Cutest boutique hotel with large rooms and quality beds/bathrooms. Free water bottles and free breakfast on the beautiful rooftop. Location is right in the middle of the areas you would want to go in Udaipur! Definitely stay here, very reasonable price.

We spent a lot of time deciding on where to stay in Udaipur. What is the best area to stay in, on the lake, away from the town ?? Madri Haveli is right in the middle of the old town on top of the hill. Super location, easy to walk around and the sites. Regular cars and large vehicles cannot go up to the Haveli you need a tuk tuk. Our driver dropped us across the bridge and Madri Haveli sent a couple tuk tuk's to pick us up. We had two rooms the suite and the really big suite !! Nicely appointed with lovely colored glass work in the windows. BIG bathroom, lots of sitting area's, decent view. The Big suite does warm up on hot days, it was in the mid 30's "C" when we were there. But the AC kept the separate bedroom cool. Everything is clean and spotless. View from the roof top restaurant is excellent. Breakfast was very good and dinners were excellent. Staff really work hard to make your stay enjoyable. Heard there is an annex with a pool being built, will be nice for those hot days. Highly recommend it.

Room tip: 302 is the biggest

Dear SIr,

Thank you very much for your review and staying with us. We only have 1 ac in the big suite room due to the heritage of the room. We want to install a second one but for that we have to destroy some heritage wall. So we decided to forget it and respect the heritage.
Have a lovely trip in India.

What really makes this hotel is the incredible staff who will go out of their way to make your stay more comfortable. Beautiful boutique hotel and rooms that (almost) make you want to stay inside all day. Location is great but you’re a little back from Lake Pichola so don’t expect lakeside views. View over the city from the rooftop restaurant is, however, amazing. Great breakfast, lunch and dinner. I’ve stayed in every kind of accommodation in Udaipur from guest houses to the Taj Lake Palace Hotel and Madri Haveli has been by far my favourite place - would 100% go back.

Prefer the Lal Ghat area of town for eating in the evenings though.
