Starting from the booking till the time we checked out, everything was smooth and comfortable. Let’s start at the very beginning; They booked a cab for my airport pick up, I used the same cab for the entire trip as I was overly satisfied. The room was large, clean and comfortable, so was the bathroom. The service at the hotel be it the room service or at the restaurant or the front desk, all were very hospitable and down to earth. Breakfast spread was good. The location of the hotel is the best possible as it is inside the City palace itself, but the usp still lies in the fact that for in-house guests they provide golf cars to travel from one end of the palace to the other at all time (highly recommended especially for elderly).

Shiv Niwas Palace's highest unique selling point is its location. It is so very close to all major attractions that the the hotel just golf-carted us to those places. Second, is the fact that you are staying at the actual palace. The views from the top of the hill and of the lake can make you almost re-live the lavishness enjoyed by the king and their guests. Next, the service - entire staff was very well disciplined and eager to help. Finally, the rooms - these were decently appointed, some amenities like the slippers were missing, but then they provided us with heater which was much needed because of the sudden cold weather. Overall, an amazing and well maintained property... the only qualm was the pricing. May be it was the peak season or the location, but I've stayed at similar rooms and properties but with much lesser tariff.

Room tip: We stayed at Terrace Suite and at Royal Suite. Go for lake facing terrace suite, if available... its expensive but has amazing views.

Staying at the Shiv Niwas Palace was the best part of being at Udaipur. The hotel is a heritage property maintained by the royal king family. You get a glimpse of the royal heritage - up close and personal. You could enter the city palace outer premises as many times.

Room - The room was spacious, the bathroom clean and provided with all the amenities.

Food - Paantya restaurant has the best ambience for all meals. The food is simple, yet tasteful. The prices are nominal. The breakfast spread was vast and the staff was happy to cater to special requests.

Staff - The best part of the hotel was the staff. They went above and beyond to serve. I had fallen ill. The staff connected us with a doctor on call, that too within 5 minutes. They then arranged all the medications immediately, without any extra charge or follow up. The room service was good. We requested for a late checkout since we were traveling with an infant. The staff let us stay till quite late the next day. Everyone was very warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Vikas Singh (at the reception), Jagdish (room service staff) and Angad (host at the Paantya restaurant) for making our stay so memorable

Ambience - The place has an unmatched ambience. I have never been to a place more serene, pristine and royal.

Accessible - The hotel was largely accessible and disabled friendly.

The best part was being able to visit the city palace late night.

Tip. - We visited the city palace a day before our stay at the shiv niwas palace hotel. Club the two to save time.

One of the better places in Udaipur, when it came to mask compliance

Room tip: All palace rooms come with a private terrace.

You get to stay in the mighty Udaipur Place premises - That's about it! I do not know how many times I would stay in a palace but that feel was great... but for a 5 star hotel, it doesn't live up to the mark! Firstly, the Route to get to the place is clumsy and Maps do not give accurate info of the Hotel Entry gates (I spent 30 mins figuring how to enter)... Map takes you to the rear entrance which leads to the museum where entry is prohibited! Also, the Room was leaking with water seepage due to continuous rain during my visit! though they swiftly changed the room, the new room also had this issue closer to my checkout, so i decided not to escalate... Food was decent, Hospitality was ok, they were running short of umbrellas during rain and they were helpless in getting them organized... Food spread is not big for Breakfast

Few staffs in the restaurant were helpful, but apart from the charm of staying in the palace, you don't really get a 5 star feel! Despite staying there you still pay the normal fee to visit the palace and the museum
