We stayed at several oberoi hotels and they are top class. Lets be clear, you pay for this. Is it great value for the money? I am still not sure. A dinner will cost you more than a top indian place in london. Keep that in mind when you budget. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed this hotel. Service was spotty at times. We had to call 4 times to get room service cleared from our patio on 2 separate days. The grounds are amazing. Employees very helpful. Also, if you want to eat at the taj palace do not expect the hotel to get you a table when you arrive. Book in advance. they should tell you this as taj is a featured location. We stayed 4 days and when we called concierge on arrival they said it was fully booked for lunch and dinner for our stay.

Book a semi-private pool room. This was ideal with a view of the lake and great patios. A must.

Room Tip: pool suite

The Oberoi's Udaivilas is an amazing place, it's like a palace. We were there for our Chairman's Son's marriage, I didn't stay there but I have been there as of my duty's part. I really appreciate the efforts of their staff. Their complete staff is too helpful & I want to thanks to Vipin, Sourabh, Nisha, Priya & specially Ms. Rose.

In addition, I want to thanks to Mr. Anurag, who is a trainee.

The Oberoi Udaivillas was really beautiful, with a wonderful view of Lake Pichola. We arrived by boat, and upon entering the hotel lobby, was greeted by the manager Jan himself. The grounds were amazing, and we loved the peacocks strutting around. The staff always greeted us with a smile and even knew our name!! We ate dinners both nights at the restaurant on the terace, with a gorgeous view of the lake, very romantic, and the food and waitstaff were just fantastic.
We had a very early departure from the hotel, and had to order breakfast on our last day from the room service menu, it was delivered right on time at 5 am, and such a lot of food!!
We can't wait to go back.
It would be nice to have free wi-fi, at least in the lobby or common area, maybe we Americans are a bit obsessed by the need to be always in touch.....

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the pool, so you can jump straight in from your room.

amazing place. it is built like a palace and you will feel like the king in the with the service they provide. the semi private pool was awesome, with view of the lake, the lake palace and city palace. at sunset, the reflection of the architecture against the water is so beautiful. this hotel is filled with so much nature it even have its own wildlife conservatory where you can see animals like deer and wild boar during their feeding time.
transport to n fro the airport is complimentary in BMW and a choice of boat or land ride to the hotel. n not to worry about getting to the other side of the lake as they provide the boat across too.

Room Tip: semi private pool is worth the extra 200 over since you have already decided on this hotel. esp if you are gonna be out there for the sun and the pool. if not, the spa pool which is located right beside the semi private pool is equally nice. with the same view. just that its not right outside your doorstep.

For sure one of the best hotels i've stayed. Stayed here in April 2012 for a Wedding in the Family.

Rooms are massive with private courtyards. The bathroom was also massive (read excellent) with Greek Thassos Marble (which i love).

Only real problem i had was that my room (322) was a long walk away from the reception / lobby. Otherwise a memorable stay.

Tip. Do try the boat ride on the lake. It's brilliant.

Room Tip: Room Nos. in 100 series near the spa are the best. They have an attached private pool and are closest to the reception and restaurants. Avoid Rooms that are away from the reception. You could end up walking long distances.
