“Pichola Haveli Hotel - Udaipur”
Reviewed 22 September 2011

Terrible experience in this hotel - dirty rooms and bed sheets, leaking a/c, failing lectricity, no hot water, rooms not cleaned, and poor breakfast - Yes, the room has a nice view but you're not going to spend your day at the window! and I would much prefer a clean bed and towels. Staff : so so....not giving you enough breathing space - eager for tips.If you need an early breakfast you might find yourself in a deserted restaurant with no food. We had to phone the reception at 7 am for someone to come up and start putting some food on the table.

Fantastic room with real charm, disappointed in was facing the rear of the hotel as the views out front are what we came here for. Roof top restaurant was quality food for a first night, was served a warm beer with dinner but when mentioned this was sorted. There is a fantastic local hotel with a restaurant called Ambrai across the bridge (with cold beer), do yourself a favour and book this for a meal, food was top class Indian cuisine.

Staff so helpful here, would go out of their way to help. PC in foyer area great for catching up or booking flights etc. Hotel has nothing more than a great room, decor, bathroom and restaurant but what else do you need.
Music at 7am from adjacent building was infuriating as mentioned in other review, no need, have a word lads...

Pros:
Room size, decor, bathroom
Location location location
Staff

Cons:
Rooftop area bit grubby
Music from next door at 7am... arggggggggggggggggggggggh!
Ran out of beer at 12pm

This is one of the best hotel we stayed in India during our 2 month stay. Great value for money. The beds are the most comfortable we had in India. The staff is very nice. You get free WIFI in the lobby and there is also a computer which is available for hotel guests. Our room was huge (very big for the 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 kids). The place is in the heart of Udaipur - so great location (near palace musuem, restaurants, ...). The only down side was the huge noise at 7AM we had the first morning which was coming from the house next to the hotel (we had a back room), this has nothing to do with the hotel but ...

If we ever go back to Udaipur, we will definitely stay at this place again!

by far the best place we stayed on our month in india, and one of the best hotels ive stayed at anywhere in the world. Gorgeous room with silk cushioned window seats overlooking the lake palace on one side and city palace on the other. perfect spot for watching the fireworks over the palaces during wedding season and watching the locals bathing in the lake in the mornings. the rooftop restaurant was wonderful too - with the most amazing 360 view. and the bathrooms were very clean (for india) i have already recomended this place to many of my friends! i loved it!!

This was by far our favourite hotel thus far on our travels and we have been through Delhi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Pushkar and now Udaipur. The outside and main lobby area are decorated with gorgeous paintings of flowers and Indian animals and figures. The light fixtures are particularly spectacular at night! The staff are friendly and do not hover or harass you. Each room is unique and colourful and the beds are amazingly comfortable. I literally fell asleep at 8:30pm each night and slept through until 7:00am the next day without waking up. There were no power cuts to speak of you have free access to the internet anytime, which is a rarity here in India. The location is fabulous situated next to a lovely German owned bakery/cafe serving cake and chai and overlooking the lake, although it has been barren of water for several years. This is a very calm and affordable Haveli that is well worth the money!
