Tiger Safari Resort
Ranked #16 of 26 Hotels in Sawai Madhopur
Reviewed 29 May 2012

It is surprising to note that a few people found this place to be terrible. We stayed at the Tiger Safari Resort for 3 days last weekend. They never insisted on an advance payment at the time of booking through e-mail (which is hardly the case with others in their vicinity).

The rooms are pretty much basic but nice with clean bathrooms. The swimming pool is well maintained and we thoroughly enjoyed a dip. Although a bit over priced, the food at the Restaurant was quite good. The service was fabulous and we were taken care of by the entire staff very well.

They didn't sound grumpy (which the nearby resorts do) when we told them that we'd already booked the safaris online and were glad to arrange for our boarding passes at a nominal charge of Rs. 300 per person. The Owner, the manager as well as the entire staff were quite friendly and always came up to chat with us about the Tiger sightings we had (4 close-up sightings in 4 safaris !). The Owner also personally dropped us at the Sawai Madhopur Railway Station.

An overall pleasant experience and a big thumbs up to the Tiger Safari Resort. I'm sure I'd never look for any other place on my next visit to Ranthambhore.

The property is below average as compared that is shown on the website.

1.The Cottages : they are reall a joke...the cottage is a small sun facing room with a wooden bed and walls which remind you of a servant quarter. The next choice is a Basement cottage..dingy with walls that have termites on them along with the odd Spider cob web.

2. The Manager : too busy to even meet you on arrival , the Guard is the front office manager, the parking attendent and also your your punching bag as he takes the brunt for the owner /managers mistakes.

The manger is extremly rude and really not interested in your complaints..his best reply is that you can book another hotel...

we booked onlne and came all the way from Delhi a nice tiring drive of 9hours for me after which this the welcome you can expect at this place.

For a price of. 3500 for a night..its really a steal...for the Manager /owner not for you.

Swimming Pool : The pool is more like 4 bathtubs put in one.....if 4people get in then there is no spavce for a 5th person....no poolside seating area and its visible from the road.

its a good place overall for people who book online or guiliable foriengners who dnt know anything about quality of accomodation in Ranthambore.

i say give it a miss and just drive down the road look at other resorts and see for yourselves.. and better still reach this hotel and you will see our drivers living in te room nex t you

Room Tip: walk down the road to find better resorts

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in April 2012. Like most I was in town for the nearby Rathambore National Park.

The hotel is quite clean, offers free pick-up from the train station and organises safaris at the NP. The manager, Raoul, is a great guy and nothing is too much trouble. He will do his utmost to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible. He even helped me out with train tickets when I had a small problem.

The room was quite large (by budget Indian standards), clean and well maintained. The pool was clean and the garden area nicely shaded. The restaurant was a little basic but the food was quite adequate.

Compared to most budget-end hotels I stayed at in India, this place was a veritable palace!

If I ever get back to Rathambore NP again I'll be staying at Tiger Safari Resort.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front (near the road) are cheaper than those next to the garden. Despite being on a bus...

Accommodation for the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve is limited and most of it is quite expensive. This hotel - although it has a pool (which was well maintained when we saw it) we would not call it a resort by any of the usual criteria - was a reasonable price and quite adequate for our needs. We found it clean, the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant food was OK and their kitchen was organised to ensure we all got our breakfast in plenty of time for the very early safari start. We had all our meals in the hotel restaurant and thought the food quite good, and reasonably priced. We were quite happy with our decision to stay here.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor and it was pleasant sitting outside on the balcony overlooking the...

First of all the place is on the road to Ranthambore and is decently located near the Railway Station.
We arrived late and checked into the hotel. We had booked a morning safari and we were asked to pay Rs 1000 per guest which is double the amount actually needed for the safari. The hotel management pockets the amount. Also, our names were goofed up by the manager in front of me for some other guests and we have to change the jeeps mid way.
As for the room service, they dont provide room service to Indians i guess, as per the hotel manager and we were asked to fetch our own water bottles from the restaurant if we want water in our rooms.
The food is ok but the prices of the food reflect that you are sitting in an Five star hotel. Rs 185 for a Khadai paneer, consider you are paying Rs 1500 for the room rent per day doesnt match up. Prices are over the top and suitable for people who can pay up(read Foreigners).

We wanted to get our luggage packed in cartons and the came the response by the manger that you need to buy cartons from outside and pack the luggage yourselves as we dont provide any services.

Rooms are average and are priced decently.

Apart from the location and the decently priced rooms dont expect anything out of this hotel. and remember it is not a resort just a collection of rooms.
There are many hotels in Sawai Madhopur which will provide you with better service levels at the same price which this hotel offers.
We were at the end of a wonderful trip to Rajasthan and this experience left a bitter taste in our mouths. Never to go back to this hotel ever.
