Khem Villas provides the best experience of a truly Indian holiday in a restful , elegant resort that was once the home of the well known forest conservator Fateh Singh. Its an oasis of green calm very close to the Ranthambore sanctuary. We enjoyed staying in the luxury tents fitted with the most comfortable beds and a verandah overlooking the wild grasses and pond which is part of the property. An outdoor bath that is lit with candles in the dusk, the cool sprinklers that water the flowers and shrubs throughout the day and the spa complete the experience.
A picnic basket is packed with nimboo pain , cold towels and sandwiches for the safari.
We were lucky to spot 8 tigers apart from the rich wildlife of the region. In the evening the outdoor bar provides the space to discuss the day with the manager Manvendra and the naturalist Mital.
The food is vegetarian, delicious and fresh from the gardens of the resort.
We would love to go back soon.

Room Tip: choose the pond facing tents

After the chaos and energy of Delhi, Khem Villas is just the best place to relax and unwind. You don't have to think of anything: they wake you up, organize everything and you can literally just enjoy what Ranthambore has to offer. I went on 2 safaris with Shashank Saraswat - how absolutely magnificent to see tigers in the wild, where they belong, and hear about the traditions in the area. Be sure to say hi to the manager of the shop inside Khem Villas - he is one of the few people who pays women the same as men are paid for making garments.

I stayed for 2 nights - should have stayed for 4.

Also, if you're vegan - super helpful chef and staff who make sure you even get vegan dessert. It is the best!

We stayed at Khem Villas for two nights towards the end of our trip in Rajasthan and we wished we could have stayed longer. Khem Villas sits in a peaceful oasis, near the jungle and is frequently visited by one of the tigers of Ranthambore. The Villas are ecologically very involved and serve only vegetarian dishes. We stayed in the hotel itself, and could not have been happier: the rooms are very well appointed, quiet, and comfortable. The meals at Khem Villas were some of the best we had in India. The breakfast buffet is elaborate and sumptuous, lunch serves a very interesting fusion cuisine, and dinner consisted of authentic Indian dishes.
Although my children were a bit disappointed with the plunge pool, the Villas made up for it with their excellent naturalists on staff. The naturalists entertained the children by giving them a close-up look at the local wildlife (crocodiles, birds, tigers, wild cats) and in the evenings, they peeked through the naturalist's telescope at Saturn, Jupiter's moons, and the moon's craters.
Khem Villas provided us with an unforgettable stay: from their beautiful estate to their attentive staff and fire-side chats. It is perfection near the jungle. We will definitely return.

Room Tip: Every room, cottage, and tent is great!

Khem Vilas, was a two day stop on our trip organised by Imagine India. Wonderful hotel based on sustainable and ecological principles employing local people where possible. The food is vegetarian and very tast, we stayed in a comfortable cottage by a lake where we could sit and observe wildlife in the evenings. It was also situated very close to the entrance to the reserve from which we went on three enjoyable safaris looking for Tigers. Highly recommended place to stay.

We stayed at Khem Villas for 2 nights, wish we could have stayed longer as this, along with Jim Corbett National Park, was one of the highlights of our trip to India. Our cottage was very comfortable and clean, it was a shame we didn't have longer to enjoy it as we had 3 jeep safaris pre booked which meant getting up early and then going out again in the afternoon. The food was simple but well cooked and presented and we didn't go hungry even though we are not usually big fans of Indian cuisine. We also very much appreciated the early morning tea and coffee that was brought to us before our morning safaris. The grounds are lovely to walk around and my husband loved the fact that there were sightings of leopards and other wildlife within the grounds. Both of us would love to return at some stage and would certainly recommend Khem Villas to other travellers.
