Amazing location...We went to ranthambore in Diwali (end of october). Jhoomar Baori is placed beautifully amidst dense forests. This property is the only property to be located in the forest. The rooms were clean and and tidy but were not furnished with the most modern amaenities. Being a heritage property it is not a five star treatment but for a forest experience I strongly recommend this place.
The only negative point from the trip was the food wasn't as good as any other place...its OK
And for Ranthambore, PLease don't expect to see too many tigers as u need to be very lucky to find them. We did the safari a few times but weren't lucky. Although the ride was very beautiful.
If you are not a "ONLY 5 STAR" traveller, Strongly recommend this place coz u will not visit Ranthambore a lot of times in your life. For us we had a gr8 family time. Hope u have the same

this was the only non family operated hotel i stayed in and i so wish it was not the same. the hotel is a heritage property which once belonged to the jaipur his highness as i was told. the location of the hotel was spectacular as it was almost in the forest. you could see quite a lot of wildlife through the drive to the hotel. its got huge rooms and if you don't mind the goverment service that you get then this is truly a great place to see ranthambhore from. the rajasthan tourism department runs the place so it is very good value for money. a must see for its great setting.

This Hotel is has one good thing going for it and that is the location and only the location. But the location is great and it makes up for a lot but not all, the hotel is dirty and badly maintained, there were wires that were hanging out of the walls, loose sockets, the beds are very hard and on the whole the hotel needs a lot of work.
we arrived late in the evening for a 2 day 3 night stay. I had booked and paid the game drives online and knew that I would have to pay a local amount at the hotel I did not expect that I would have to paid nearly the same amount again at the hotel reception and when I asked for a recite I was told that it would not be possible as it was money for the national park not for the hotel. Also after paying for the hotel online I still had to pay extra taxes leaving.
All food is included and it was good, it is a buffet with a few choices the dining room is small and fills up fast, you can not get breakfast before you go on a game drive just a cup of tea or coffee.
There are a few reviews about sitting outside with a drink in the evening, this was not possible for us as there was not a bar service in the hotel and getting anything other then water was impossible.
On our last day coming back from the game drive we saw a leopard on the driveway up to the hotel, which was brilliant, we were very lucky to have seen tigers on all our drives so our trip was great. But this hotel needs a lot of work to bring it up to a good standard, it that happens this place would be unbeatable.

Having done a lot of research on Tripadvisor on hotels to stay at Ranthambhore, we decided to book one night at Jhoomar Baori during our two week vacation in Rajasthan. We were a bit apprehensive since this is a government (RTDC) run hotel and the room rates in the last week of December were quite steep. We were certainly not disappointed with our decision!

The location of the hotel is absolutely breathtaking. This is, perhaps, the only hotel to be located inside the Ranthanbhore reserve, albeit in a buffer zone. What this means is that, during the 2km drive upto the hotel located on a hill, you will come across nilgais, peacocks and deer crossing the narrow road; a mini-safari of sorts and a prelude to your actual safari in the park! The manager also informed us that a few months back, a tiger was seen lounging in the vicinity of the hotel. As the hotel is located on a hill-top, the view from the roof is also absolutely amazing.

The rooms at the hotel are a bit odd in shape, but that is to be expected as this building was apparently the hunting lodge of the Maharaja and is therefore a heritage building. Each room is actually two connected rooms; the interior rectangular room is for sleeping (and a bit small) while the outer triangular room is to keep your luggage. While the configuration is odd, we didn't mind it as we stayed only for one night. The second and third floors come with huge common lounges.

Food served on the ground floor is quite good and the room tariff includes all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner). Service is good for a government-run hotel; the manager had even arranged for a Rajasthani cultural program that evening. The staff was able to arrange a safari (in a 20 seat canter) for us in the peak tourist season at no extra cost (if arriving in the Dec 20 - Jan 7 timeframe, please make sure to book your safaris online well in advance; we were able to book online only one safari trip in a Gypsy while the other was arranged when we reached the hotel. Even if you have booked online, pay the travel agent Rs 300-400 to confirm your reservation, else you will have to go to the Tourist Centre in person 45 minutes prior to the start of the safari to confirm your booking and then get back to the hotel for your pickup! Insane and certainly not worth the saving if your safari begins at 7am in peak winter!). Finally, the souvenir shop attached to the hotel is also reasonable and has a good collection of T-shirts, mugs and the like.

All-in-all, we really enjoyed our short stay at the hotel. The fact that you are in the midst of wilderness is well worth the price.

We drove from .gurgaon to the park. There are 2 routes, one via Alwar,Dosa,Lasote, ranthambore. This is 75km.shorter than the Jaipur,Tonk, ranthambore route. The road tfrom Gurgaon to ranthambore. Via Alwar is excellent but for a 15km stretch from Dosa which is horrible as it is under construction. We stayed at Castle Jjhoomar Baori and we recommend it to all.excellent hotel and staff. We did this in 6 1/2 hours in a Tata Safar with a 30 minute break for lunch at Alwar.i The road from gurgaon via Jaipur Tonk is good only till Jaipur. After that it is rough till ranthambore and it took us 2hours more to travel.

Room Tip: Take the rooms with the terraces.
