“Vatika yo; Kanak / Ankush Group of Hotels no”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

Vatika is a good property with cosy rooms, good hygenic food and reasonable service. A basic hotel (no swinmming pool) with neat and clean rooms and ambience at affordable prices.

Six months back (November 2010) I booked this hotel through Kanak. His website potrays as if he / Ankush Group is the owner but it is not so. He is merely a broker / agent charging 2 - 3 x the actual tariff and 2x of RTDC safari charges (do online booking with RTDC for tiger safari....it is very transperant). After 100% advance, he changed our hotel to some downgraded sidey hotel and we had no choice as it was last hour change. The fact is actual owner of Vatika Mr. Mahesh and his manager Devendra had done 100% booking on their own and did not honour our booking done through Kanak as he never co-ordinated with the owner regarding our booking. He provided us some stupid lame excuse that marriage group had taken the hotel and noise would have disturbed us and so he changed our hotel even without consulting us. (but the fact was a big Gujarati family had booked the hotel directly with the owner for enjoying tiger safari....marriage functions dont happen here in Sawai Madhopur). He cannot play around with our iternary without our consent. It is so shameful and disgusting on his behalf as Kanak also never refunded the differential amount of hotel change to me despite taking almost 2x the Vatika's actual tariff. Kanak is a dark shadow over beautiful Vatika

This time (April 2012) we contacted the hotel directly and got amazing and cheaper deal. To simply put, why Kanak if you can book directly at cheaper rate...So beware...the hotel is very good...but if the payment is to Kanak / Ankush Group of Hotels, you are not booking the hotel directly and paying much higher tariff. Those already booked with Kanak/Ankush Group can cross check the tariff with hotel manager.

We booked a 3d/2n package which included stay at the resort (all meals), pick-up/drop to the rly stn, sightseeing & 2 jeep safaris through an agent, Mr. Kanak Pal.

On the first day, we went for an afternoon jeep safari on route 3, which was exciting but we did not spot any tigers unfortunately. We hoped 2nd safari on the next day would be better but were surprised when we were assigned route 6, which is a buffer zone despite having booked the safaris 2 months in advance!

The trip was disappointing; the only saving grace being the food in the hotel which was delicious and the staff was quite helpful. The rooms were nice and clean except for a few creepy crawlies which you'd expect near forests. We could see quite a few birds from the hotel itself and it is 1.5 kms away from the forest lodge, Jhoomar Baori on the way to which you can spot a few animals like deer, sambar, rabbits, peacocks, etc.

We would not have been this disappointed had the last safari not been in buffer zone; which is not fair as we are charged the same rates but can hardly see any animals on this route and not to mention the road which is poorly maintained.

I would say go for the hotel but book directly and not through any agent esp. Kanak Pal - it will save you a few bucks & may get you a proper safari as well. Also, go for canter safaris instead as they take the same routes as jeeps & are cheaper so you can opt for more safaris you'd otherwise get for the same cost.

We reached resort on 24th March around 5:30 in the evening. But Due to Temperature my son who is 2 yrs. old got high fever. Around 6;00 he faint and start getting fitts.....the staff was very helpful as we were unknown about place the owner himself took us to hospital where Doc denied to attend my son.....then we rushed to another hospital where doc was not available, then i called up 100 no. where police also denied to help us but they had given some of the docs name in the city, one chemist shop told the resort owner a name of the doc and with the help of Mr. Sharma (resort owner) we finally reached the doc.....where my son got a new life.....I am heartly thankful to Doctor Soni and Mr. Sharma how they help us in that unknown place.....As doc has advised us to give the rest of 2 days to my son so we continued our stay at ranthambore vatika resort.....they had cared for us like a family member. All staff is very polite and helpfull, food was owesome, without saying anything they had made the Baby food too.......Apart from all these the resort is very nice, with lots of cleanliness, nice location with lots of natural beauty......I would advise to everyone to stay here for ur pleasant mornings and nights.

Room Tip: Center Cottage

Let me start with the good part, which is the resort, this is very good place and value for money. Rooms are good, food is tasty and service is very personal in short they know how to make there guest feel like home. The worst part of the whole journey start with booking.. which we did through Mr Kanak, who tell himself as the Marketing and PR person for the Hotel but is fake actually an agent (*not even listed on IATA) and charge double the money but no service provided. we reached Sawai Madhopur at 5.30am and there were no one to pick us from station even the hotel staff was not aware of our arrival. In our package we paid for Jeep safari but Mr Kanak arranged the safari for buffer zone (6-8 are buffer zones) not for national park (1-5 zone). When asking his reply was racial and disgusting. He didn't help us in anyway after taking 100% advance. All the info on Tripadvisor hotel page is Agent info please avoid agent and do direct booking you will save money and trouble both.

Room Tip: Don't pay 100% advance, if someone is asking he is agent not from hotel.

Very nice little hotel and friendly staff. Beautiful view on the Ranthambore forest . Rooms are nicely furnished. Better than a chain hotel having 100+ rooms. I would definitively recommend but make sure you do not go through any agents. As per our experience, agent looted us by asking advance payment which we paid and got to know after check-in that actual payments are far less then we paid. Inquire prior making any online payment to Mr. Mahesh Sharma (Owner) else Devendra(Manager). Have a great and cheap journey.
