Memorable New Year’s Eve

Review of Haveli Inn Pal
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Jan 2019via mobile
Very nice boutique heritage hotel. Great food. Awesome themed rooms, they provide kettle and tea/coffe caddy, hot water, mineral water and all that’s needed for a comfortable stay. No elevator so prepare the elders about this. Friendly staff. Absolutely fantastic views of Mehrangadh.
Minibuses or larger vehicles will not be able to get through the lanes leading to the hotel, take care to arrange with the hotel to arrange transportation.
Enjoy the old world charm, this is real Jodhpur.

Perfectly located in the middle of the old town, right next to the market square with clock tower, this budget-friendly sister hotel to Haveli Pal has all the same location benefits, with more affordable rooms. Small museum inside the hirel, accessed from the central courtyard which also has a miniature paintings shop and arts and crafts boutique, as well as award winning 'Indique' restaurant. The highlight of this hotel is 'Panorama 360' rooftop restaurant eith stunning views of the hilltop fort and city centre. It is also the breakfast venue. Amazing.

Didn't like the city as much as we liked our stay in Haveli Inn. Royal in the true sense ...rooms are big and clean. Staff is very courteous and welcoming. It's located at the centre of the city and many things to see and top restaurants in the city at walking distance from this place eg Ghantaghar & stepwell. They don't have parking facilities for guests but there is common paid parking near by. Don't have dormitory for drivers or servants so you have to arrange it for them. Indique their roof top restaurant is one of the top listed in the city, offers great fort view and food (at exhorbit price) so you will find many foreigners hanging out till late night.
Their '360 degree's breakfast restaurant also has great fort view and served nice spread incl paratha, puri bhaji n omlets etc.
Old City where it's located is very chaotic full of traffic and millions of people and very dirty. Roads are small and full with pits. Seems like no one picked garbages for weeks, not sure how foreigners are still coming and staying here.we visited Fort, Stepwell, Ghantaghar and umaid bhavan. Only fort n Stepwell were worth it. Ghantaghar is overrated based at centre of their wholesale market and hence worst stinking iconic place I have ever visited.
So all in all...great stay experience at Haveli Inn...but I may ask my friends to skip Jodhpur as you get similar fort n vintage city experiences in other places which are less crowded and most importantly clean. The city may run out of business if municipal bodies don't act on these points soon.

Fine location close to railway station. Good rooms, nice traditional architecture and decor, excellent food at rooftop restaurant with a grand view of the fort; very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet and clean even on Christmas Day. Could do with a lift, though.

Room tip: Ask for a room with a view of the fort

Wonderful heritage hotel. Rooms are big and well maintained. Location is great, walk able to the market. The walking route for Mehrangarh fort is closeby. Close to Ghantaghar. Restaurant (Panorama 360) has limited food menu but offers a great view of the fort. Indique is another restaurant in the same campus . Both need booking specially during vacation times for dinner.

Stayed for 3 nights (105 AUD p/n including taxes) in room 11, overlooking Lake Gulab Sagar (not a lake but an unused water store) with breakfast included. It’s in the same complex as Pal Haveli Hotel.

Great location in the heart of the old city, walking distance to Sardar Market, Clock Tower (10 mins) and Blue City.

The room had a comfortable king size bed and decent linen. The bed was raised - very high with a wooden platform to assist getting up to bed level. Small enclosed balcony (with netting) overlooking the lake. Tea / coffee making facilities. TV with a few western channels and easy to use. A lockable safe and small hanging space with a few hangers. A ceiling fan and air conditioning also.

Bathroom was clean, decent but very basic. Hot water and a few toiletries supplied. Hair dryer also supplied.

Breakfast is served on the rooftop restaurant (you can sit inside or outside) and is self serve. Ask server for egg dishes - they are cooked to order. Toast, fruit, cereals, juice, porridge. Self serve coffee - instant or filtered. Helpful staff. Timing is 7.30-10am.

Reception staff were helpful and you can exchange foreign cash here.

Rooftop restaurant on level 3 - called Panorama 360. No lift, stairs only. Served cold beer, wine, tea / coffee and really great Indian food and a few western options. Options include thalis, local dishes, veg and non veg, snacks and clay oven cooked meats and breads. No shade umbrellas. It is lit up at night (still dim though) and no outdoor heating. It’s a casual restaurant. You can reserve a table (I think preference is to hotel guests or frequent visitors), but they had plenty of walk-in guests welcomed. Sunil looked after us each night. Sometimes they only had one server, so be patient. We never waited too long for food or beer. Prices were good also. Food was 11/10.

Indique restaurant is in the same complex but we never visited it during our stay (same owners and probably same food). It has more modern seating and presentation and full bar etc.

Plenty of tuk tuks sit outside the entrance, but walking around is a must. Hotel can organize tours and cars etc.

Cons - WiFi was poor and timed out all the time and sending pictures was hit and miss. Our room was a bit noisy in the mornings. Many stairs, no lift.
