I stayed here for a month while volunteering at Sambhali Trust (which has a connection to this guest house). It's a genuine Indian experience! It's family run, and you'll get to know the family and the very helpful staff (if you want). I especially enjoyed that there was a mix of volunteers and travelers, and when I go back next month, I'll look forward (this time as just a traveler) meeting both Sambhali volunteers and other travelers and reuniting with the family and staff.
There is a wide range of rooms (more basic ones for volunteers, but fully adequate) and a beautiful courtyard. I loved the Indian food (3 meals a day as a volunteer).
The location is not in the center of the city, but it's very easy to get a tuk-tuk (or Uber) to the center. The advantage is that it's quiet and serene. It's also near a track and gym equipment if you're staying for a longer time. You can easily walk to a shop for basic supplies and feel like you are actually living in India. You can just pass through as a traveler and be treated very well, but I urge you to get acquainted with the work of Sambhali Trust. (Check out their were site.)
It's easy to connect with bus and train, and the staff will surely help you, as they will with any of your needs.
If you're looking for a luxury stay, this is not it. If you're looking for comfortable, friendly, clean accommodations with good food, good people, and a good vibe, this is your place. I'm a senior traveler (70+ countries, 5 times in India) and could afford a more upscale place, but I much prefer Durag Niwas.
